Workdays & Hours:
3:30-6:30pm or 4:00-7:00pm, only on days for FWAS programming, held based on FWISD Traditional Calendar. Multiple part-time Recreation Assistant jobs are available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department for the After School Program at Como Community Center. The After School Program provides a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children ages 5 - 13 through character development, literacy programs, arts and crafts, team building and recreational activities. You will be responsible for assisting in coordinating and conducting programs and activities at a community center while being assigned to a specific group and ensuring the well-being of the children.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 16 or older and no experience required Possession of or ability to obtain a CPR, First Aid, and AED certification during the first 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children ages 5 - 13 years old, leading activities in a recreational and/or educational environment Experience performing custodial duties Bilingual English/Spanish Experience using software for registration, payments, and POS The Recreation Assistant - Fort Worth After School Program job responsibilities include: Supervise and participate with the children during the After School Program Promote, coordinate, and develop structured lesson plans and activities such as arts and crafts, games, sports and other recreational activities and events Assist with snack distribution, serving, and clean-up Assist with field trips and community programs Submit attendance records and other reports as requested Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times Maintain discipline, group control, and practice safety
Working Conditions and Physical Demand:
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions. Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Apply Now!
