Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation

About the Role Amelia County is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation . This leadership position works under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director and plays a key role in overseeing recreation programs, staff, and facilities that serve our community. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership, guidance, and support for recreation programs, events, and activities Organize and manage program schedules and community events Assist with maintenance and repair of ball fields and recreational facilities Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards Support recruitment, supervision, training, and evaluation of sport coordinators and part-time staff Assist in developing and managing operating and capital budgets Monitor expenditures and support financial planning efforts Conduct research and prepare grant proposals and RFPs Manage concessions, including purchasing and inventory control Respond to citizen inquiries and resolve concerns professionally Minimum Qualifications Considerable knowledge of sports and recreation management principles and practices Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation or a related field Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered How to Apply Applications are available at the Amelia County website or at the
