Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is actively looking for qualified candidates for a full-time Fitness Programmer position. The individual in this role will be tasked with leading and supervising the implementation of all fitness programs and services, which encompass both group exercise and personal training. The candidate should be ready to handle all facets of a comprehensive fitness program, including its management and ensuring adherence to fitness program standards. We are currently hiring for the following location(s): Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, Sterling, VA Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Create fitness programs to provide individuals with opportunities to participate in a wide range of fitness-related activities, promoting physical well-being. Provide fitness instructor training, as needed. Supervision of part-time Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Training staff, to include interviewing, onboarding, discipline, and evaluation. Develop and market a robust monthly Group Exercise class schedule, including varied class formats, multiple modalities, class times, etc., to meet the needs of the community. The role involves formulating program evaluation benchmarks, approaches, and resources, and integrating evaluation information into future program strategizing. Maintains a safe environment for all program participants and patrons. Work effectively with outside agencies and organizations to promote the program and its goals in the community. Coordinates all aspects of the fitness programs and activities, including group exercise classes and personal training. Additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the role and departmental assignment may be performed. Hiring salary commensurate with experience. High School Diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years related work experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or related field is preferred. One (1) year of experience in a supervisory role in a related field. Certification recognized by the NCCA-National Commission for Certifying Agencies (ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE). American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP). Must undergo criminal background, credit, DMV, and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks are all requirements. Driver's license must be valid, and driving record must be good (driver's records may be reviewed annually). Must hold or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certifications at hire or within four (4) months. Work schedule varies according to operational hours and may include weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
