This role is essential in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students to enjoy their recess. The Recess Assistant will work closely with students and staff to promote positive social interactions and maintain order during outdoor activities. Responsibilities Supervise students during recess, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Facilitate positive social interactions among students, encouraging inclusive play and conflict resolution. Enforce school rules and policies related to outdoor activities and student behavior. Monitor the outdoor area for potential hazards and address safety concerns promptly. Support students in engaging in recreational activities that promote physical activity and social development. Collaborate with teachers and staff to coordinate recess schedules and special events. Maintain a respectful and nurturing environment that aligns with the school's cultural values. Address behavioral issues calmly and effectively, implementing appropriate interventions when necessary. Qualifications Prior experience working with children or in a supervisory role is preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage groups of children effectively. Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards student engagement. Ability to remain vigilant and attentive during outdoor supervision. Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects cultural diversity. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions during recess periods.
