Summer Breaking Camp Counselor / Keyholder Join our summer camp team at our breaking / breakdancing academy, where we help kids build confidence, creativity, discipline, teamwork, and self-expression through dance and movement. We are looking for a reliable, energetic Camp Counselor to help lead our 2026 Summer Breaking Camp. In this role, you will guide children through fun dance and breaking activities, help maintain a safe and positive camp environment, and be responsible for opening and closing the academy each camp day. Camp Weeks This position is for the following 2026 summer camp weeks: Week 7: August 10-14, 2026 Week 8: August 17-21, 2026 Week 9: August 24-28, 2026 Camp runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. There may also be opportunities for additional work beyond summer camp, including assistant teaching, events, private lessons, leadership roles, and future academy programs based on performance, reliability, and fit. Responsibilities Open and close the academy each camp day, including unlocking, securing the facility, and making sure the space is safe and organized. Set up the camp space before students arrive, including music, equipment, floors, check-in areas, and activity stations. Lead and assist with daily dance, breaking, and movement-based activities for children. Help campers learn foundational breaking skills such as rhythm, footwork, freezes, freestyle, confidence, and creative expression. Supervise campers throughout the day and maintain a safe, positive, and respectful environment. Support behavior management using patience, encouragement, and clear expectations. Assist with camp setup, cleanup, equipment organization, and end-of-day closing duties. Communicate professionally with staff, parents, and guardians when needed. Report any safety, maintenance, or facility concerns to management. Represent the academy's values of creativity, community, discipline, respect, and positive youth mentorship. Skills Background in dance, breaking, hip-hop, movement, sports, or youth fitness. Experience working with children in a camp, school, childcare, coaching, or youth program setting. Responsible, dependable, and trustworthy with opening, closing, and securing the academy. Strong communication skills with children, parents, and team members. Ability to lead groups, manage behavior, and keep kids engaged in a positive way. First aid/CPR certification is a plus. Experience teaching, coaching, tutoring, or mentoring children is a plus. Comfortable creating an inclusive environment for students of different backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels. Interested in growing with the academy and open to future opportunities in teaching, leadership, events, and youth programming.
