Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Recreation & Wellness Coordinator oversees the development, coordination, and delivery of YMCA sports, fitness, wellness, FOREVERWELL, and adaptive programming for individuals of all ages and abilities. This position manages program operations, volunteers, community partnerships, participant engagement, and program growth while supporting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming YMCA environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Youth & Adult Sports Programming Coordinate youth sports programs, including but not limited to; Blaze Football, youth basketball, soccer, Z-Tag, and dodgeball. Manage program logistics, registration, schedules, facilities, equipment, volunteers, coaches, and participant communication. Coordinate schedules for both gyms. Recruit and support volunteer coaches and coordinate games, leagues, tournaments, banquets, and special events. Oversee and grow adult sports programming, including but not limited to; pickleball programming, including leagues, clinics, and tournaments. Evaluate current programs and develop new sports opportunities based on community interest and participation. 2. Adaptive Programming Serve as the primary coordinator for YMCA adaptive recreation and fitness programming for individuals of all ages and abilities. Develop and implement inclusive programs in sports, recreation, fitness, wellness, and social activities. Work with participants, families, caregivers, staff, and community partners to identify needs and create meaningful participation opportunities. Develop community partnerships and continually evaluate and improve adaptive programming. 3. Healthy Living, Wellness & FOREVERWELL Support the daily operation of the Healthy Living Center, ensuring a safe, clean, welcoming, and positive environment for members. Provide member assistance, Healthy Living Center orientations, and instruction on proper and safe equipment use within the scope of training and certification. Develop and lead fitness challenges, special events, workshops, and group conditioning classes for youth and adults. Coordinate and support

programming, including programs and activities designed to promote healthy aging, social connection, wellness, and active living for older adults. Maintain appropriate fitness certifications and pursue additional certifications as needed. Personal training may be provided upon obtaining appropriate certification and approval. 4. Program Administration Develop and monitor program budgets, expenses, and revenues. Maintain accurate registration, attendance, staffing, scheduling, and incident records. Manage program registration and respond to participant, parent, and member questions or concerns. Coordinate facility and equipment use and ensure programs operate according to YMCA policies and procedures. Attend required league, committee, program, and community meetings. Evaluate programs and use participant feedback to support continued improvement. 5. Community Engagement & YMCA Events Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of YMCA events and activities. Represent the Green County Family YMCA at community events and outreach opportunities. Develop positive relationships with schools, community organizations, agencies, clubs, and other community partners. 6. General Responsibilities Promote the YMCA mission and core values through interactions with members, participants, volunteers, and staff. Work collaboratively with all YMCA departments to provide a positive member and participant experience. Provide support to other YMCA programs and departments as needed. Adapt to seasonal programming needs and changing community interests. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree preferred. 2. Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in sports or recreational program management preferred. 3. Strong leadership and team-building skills. 4. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities. 5. Budget management and program development experience required. 6. Must have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. 7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and registration/scheduling software. 8. Personal Training Certification encouraged, but not required.

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends based on program needs.
  • Role requires occasional physical activity, including participation in sports and setup/teardown of equipment.
  • Combination of office work, gymnasium supervision, and outdoor programming.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
