Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to participate in planning and providing meaningful leisure and diversional activities for Pine Valley Community Village residents. Provides high quality individual and group activities utilizing a person-centered approach. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Conducts leisure and diversional activities for residents such as parties, crafts, craft sales, exercise programs, cooking groups, bingo, sing-a-longs, games, etc. Participate in planning and organizing activities. Transport and arranges transportation to activities off-site. Coordinates van usage with nursing department. Reads to residents and provides sensory stimulation and social visits to residents. Maintains activity records including residents' progress notes and prepares assessments. Maintaining and developing resident gardens. Taking pictures for marketing. Maintains and posts activity schedules and calendars. Assists residents with activities. Sets up activity materials and equipment. Collects and stores equipment. Assists volunteers in conducting activities. Distributes and collects library books. Transports residents to and from activity room. Enters resident information into MDS program regarding specific activity events. Bakes birthday cakes, blows up balloons and makes signs. Plans grocery shopping list for cooking group. Schedules community groups for activities. Maintains outdoor bird feeders, feeds fish, indoor birds and cats and waters plants. Purchases groceries and craft supplies. Sorts magazines and activity materials. Participates in committees, trainings, and meetings. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to acquire CPR certification within six months of hire. Valid Driver's License required.
