ABOUT MILLER'S LANDING
Miller's Landing is a family-owned adventure tourism and hospitality company located on the shores of Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska. Our operation includes fishing charters, water taxis, guided trips, kayaking, lodging, camping, weddings, catering, festivals, live events, and a busy waterfront cafe. Unlike most hospitality jobs, no two days here are the same. We operate a cafe that supports our guests, staff, charter fleet, guided trips, weddings, and special events. During peak season, our food and beverage operation generates approximately $250,000 per month in sales while serving both visitors and locals in one of Alaska's most spectacular settings. What makes Miller's Landing unique is that we are not simply a restaurant. We are an evolving hospitality, tourism, and events company with enormous creative potential. We catch and serve our own fish from our charter fleet. We operate a greenhouse and gardens. We host large waterfront weddings. We provide meals for guided trips and private events. We offer "Cook Your Catch" experiences for charter clients. We have begun producing concerts, community events, and festivals. New ideas are welcomed and often become reality here. We're looking for someone who understands traditional hospitality operations but also enjoys helping build something unique. The right candidate will be organized, adaptable, creative, and excited by opportunities rather than intimidated by them.
THE POSITION
This role is primarily Front of House focused but requires the ability to work throughout the operation as needed. You will work directly with ownership and alongside our Kitchen Manager to help lead food and beverage operations during the busiest months of our season. We are looking for someone who can help provide structure and consistency while also contributing ideas, solving problems, and helping us capitalize on opportunities as they arise. One hour you may be pulling espresso shots, the next helping coordinate meals for a fishing charter, staffing a wedding, organizing a catering event, training a new employee, or stepping onto the line during a rush.

  • Hiring, onboarding, and training seasonal employees
  • Front of house leadership and guest service
  • Barista and espresso operations
  • Coordinating and supporting catering events
  • Organizing meals for guided trips and charter guests

  • Inventory support and ordering assistance
  • Team communication and accountability
  • Cash handling and operational oversight
  • Assisting kitchen operations when needed
  • Helping develop systems and improve efficiency
  • Supporting future beer and wine service operations as our liquor program expands
  • Maintaining a positive guest experience and workplace culture
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous restaurant, cafe, hospitality, or food service management experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience scheduling and managing teams
  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions
  • Ability to step into both front and back of house roles when needed
  • Barista experience preferred
  • Catering or event experience preferred
  • Experience in seasonal hospitality, tourism, or destination operations is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and problem-solving ability highly valued
HOUSING & PERKS
  • Private dry-cabin housing provided on site
  • Electricity included
  • Wood heat provided
  • Showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities nearby
  • Shift meals included
  • Opportunity to explore Seward and Resurrection Bay
  • Access to hiking, fishing, kayaking, wildlife viewing, and Alaska adventures on days off
  • Work directly with ownership and have a meaningful impact on operations
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
This position has the potential to evolve into a year-round leadership role within the company for the right candidate. For those seeking seasonal employment, successful team members will receive priority consideration for a returning leadership position for the 2027 season (April through September), with strong earning potential and increasing responsibility. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, leadership, adventure tourism, events, food, and building systems in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment. If you're excited by the idea of helping shape a growing and highly unique Alaska operation, we'd love to hear from you.
