Job Description

Hotel & Restaurant General Manager - Meier Lake Resort & Alaskana Social Club The General Manager at Meier Lake plays a key role in cultivating exceptional guest experiences while overseeing daily operations, financial management, and team leadership across the property. This position calls for a thoughtful, organized leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes pride in delivering excellence at every touchpoint. What You'll Lead Guide and support the Meier Lake team with clear direction, effective delegation, and strong training programs. Oversee scheduling and coordination for lodging, special events, restaurant & bar services, and on-site activities. Prepare, review, and maintain client and vendor contracts with attention to detail and professionalism. Anticipate and address guest needs, ensuring smooth logistics for stays, weddings, retreats, and special events. Manage inventory and ordering for all departments, ensuring supplies are thoughtfully maintained and well-organized. Reconcile cash tills for events and programs with accuracy and accountability. Remain available on-call for matters requiring leadership oversight. Evaluate and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and tour partners to support the guest experience. Handle financial operations, including daily/weekly/monthly reporting, invoicing, AP/AR, and overall budget awareness. Uphold compliance with all local and state regulations, ensuring safe and efficient operations across departments. Monitor relevant Meier Lake email accounts and maintain professional communication standards. Additional Responsibilities Participate in operational evaluations, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Attend on- and off-site meetings as needed. Provide warm, professional guest interaction in person, by phone, and via email. Support the team by performing other duties as assigned. Professional Standards Represent Meier Lake with professionalism, positivity, and a guest-first mindset. Maintain a clean, polished appearance aligned with our dress code. Complete required certifications or annual training. Protect guest confidentiality and uphold ethical business practices. Adhere to all organizational policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards. Communicate and embody Meier Lake's mission and values in all actions. Participate in staff meetings and support restaurant service oversight as needed. Contribute to ongoing performance and quality improvement efforts. Qualifications 21+ years of age. Five years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with two years of experience. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities. Ability to make sound decisions in complex & high stress situations. Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Thorough knowledge of Meier Lake's policies, safety standards, and mission (or willingness to learn them). Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of guest service, hospitality operations, and safety protocols. High attention to detail with the ability to follow through on tasks and deadlines. Ability to multitask in a fast-moving environment with grace and professionalism. Physical Requirements This role includes a blend of administrative and hands-on leadership.
Candidates should be able to:
Sit and/or walk for 4-10 hours per day. Lift or move items up to 40 lbs Perform tasks involving reaching, bending, stooping, speaking, and hearing. Use computers and technology involving repetitive hand or finger motions. Able to do most job functions involving a full service bar & restaurant Work in varying temperatures Respond quickly to alarms or safety concerns. Maintain clear vision (with or without correction) for accuracy in documents and operations.
