Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Certified Dietary Manager and Food Services Director, where you will lead and oversee all aspects of food service operations within a healthcare environment. This pivotal role combines management expertise with clinical nutrition knowledge to ensure the delivery of safe, nutritious, and compliant food services that enhance resident well-being. You will be responsible for managing food production, supervising dietary staff, maintaining health regulation standards, and developing care-focused meal plans. Your leadership will foster a positive team environment while ensuring operational excellence and adherence to all health policies. Responsibilities Lead and manage the entire dietary department, including supervising food service teams, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining team morale. Develop, implement, and monitor menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate special diets such as tube feeding or therapeutic diets. Conduct patient assessments to tailor meal plans that support individual health needs and care plans, including clinical nutrition considerations. Ensure compliance with all health regulation policies, food safety management protocols, and food service health code standards across the facility. Oversee inventory management, budgeting, and procurement processes to optimize resources while controlling costs effectively. Supervise food preparation processes, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed consistently. Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems for documenting dietary information, care plans, and compliance records accurately. Coordinate with healthcare teams on diagnostic evaluations and acute care needs related to nutrition or feeding interventions such as tube feeding or dysphagia management. Manage staff scheduling, training programs, and performance evaluations to foster professional growth and maintain a motivated team environment. Qualifications Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential required; additional certifications in healthcare management or nutrition are a plus. Proven experience in food service management within assisted living or healthcare settings; assisted living experience highly preferred. Strong knowledge of health regulation policies, food safety management, and food service health code compliance. Experience with patient assessment techniques, care plan development, and clinical nutrition principles. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to dietary services. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing food service teams in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge of physiology related to nutrition and specialized diets such as tube feeding or dysphagia diets. Ability to manage budgets effectively while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare professionals and training staff on best practices in food safety and nutrition standards.
