CURRY HOUSE
CoCo ICHIBANYA, known to guests as CoCoICHI, has been serving Japanese-style curry rice since 1978. Every bowl is made to order, with the guest selecting their rice portion, spice level, and toppings. Our mission is to exceed our guests' expectations in taste, service, and atmosphere on every visit. The restaurant is currently under construction, and opening is planned for the end of October 2026. Position Summary The Assistant Manager is a management position responsible for directing the daily operation of the restaurant. The role carries independent authority over staffing, scheduling, team development, day-to-day cost control, service execution, guest satisfaction, sanitation, cash handling, and safety and security. The Assistant Manager is primarily engaged in managing the restaurant, and reports to the General Manager. Responsibilities Recruit, train, and onboard the founding team ahead of opening, and prepare the restaurant for its first day of service Serve as manager on duty, running the restaurant and taking responsibility for the shift Supervise and direct the work of the hourly team across front and back of house, customarily and regularly overseeing 25 or more team members Decide staffing levels, station assignments, and how labor is deployed during your shifts, adjusting as business conditions change Interview and hire hourly team members, and make recommendations on promotion, discipline, and termination Train and develop the team through coaching, performance feedback, and performance reviews Prepare team schedules and manage labor to forecast Monitor labor and food cost against targets, identify variances, and take corrective action Place orders and maintain inventory controls Enforce food safety, health code, responsible alcohol service, and workplace safety standards Oversee cash handling and opening and closing procedures Resolve guest and team member concerns Support the General Manager on hiring plans, cost management, and operating improvements Qualifications At least two years of experience in a fast-paced casual or full-service restaurant, including direct supervisory responsibility for a team Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team, and to make independent operating decisions without day-to-day direction Experience managing labor and food cost, and acting on the results Able to prioritize and manage competing demands across a full shift Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to learn our scheduling and payroll systems Toast POS experience preferred A professional, guest-focused approach to hospitality and a willingness to learn Weekend and holiday availability is required Able to stand and walk for extended periods and to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation Legally authorized to work in the United States Able to obtain California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification within 60 days of your first day of work
Preferred:
