$78,000 annually An established Mexican fast-casual restaurant operation is seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant General Manager to lead one of its Southern California locations. This is a confidential search. The company name, restaurant name, and exact location will be disclosed only to qualified candidates as they progress through the interview process. Position Overview The Restaurant General Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of a busy fast-casual restaurant with drive-thru and alcohol service. This position has primary responsibility for front-of-house operations, guest experience, staffing, labor management, training, service standards, cash controls, sales execution, and overall restaurant performance . The General Manager will work closely and collaboratively with an established Head Chef/Kitchen Manager , who provides leadership and oversight of day-to-day back-of-house operations. Accounting and administrative financial functions are handled through the company's administrative office, allowing the General Manager to remain focused on restaurant operations, employees, guests, and overall execution. Key Responsibilities Lead the overall day-to-day restaurant operation Maintain high standards for guest service, food presentation, cleanliness, and restaurant appearance Oversee front-of-house and drive-thru operations Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, develop, and manage restaurant employees Establish clear performance expectations and maintain employee accountability Manage attendance, scheduling, labor utilization, and overtime Coach and develop supervisors and other key team members Work collaboratively with the Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to ensure strong coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house operations Maintain effective communication between FOH and BOH teams Monitor sales, labor, discounts, voids, cash shortages, and other key operating metrics Maintain proper cash-handling, deposit, reconciliation, and loss-prevention procedures Execute company promotions and identify opportunities to increase restaurant sales Ensure fast, accurate, and consistent drive-thru service Address guest concerns and provide effective service recovery Maintain restaurant opening and closing standards Oversee alcohol-service operations and ensure responsible-service procedures are followed Ensure applicable food-safety, workplace-safety, and alcohol-service requirements are maintained Coordinate restaurant repairs, maintenance, and vendor-related issues Conduct regular restaurant inspections and follow up on identified opportunities Communicate staffing, maintenance, operational, and performance concerns to senior management Take ownership of the overall guest experience and operating standards of the restaurant Minimum Qualifications Minimum of five years of successful Restaurant General Manager experience or comparable senior restaurant-management experience required Proven experience managing a high-volume QSR, fast-casual, or comparable restaurant operation Demonstrated experience leading and developing restaurant employees and supervisors Strong understanding of restaurant labor management and scheduling Experience with hiring, training, coaching, corrective action, and performance management Strong understanding of restaurant sales and controllable operating metrics Experience with cash controls, deposits, reconciliations, loss prevention, and POS systems Demonstrated ability to maintain strong guest-service and restaurant-cleanliness standards Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operating environment Ability to effectively partner with an established Kitchen Manager or Head Chef Experience working with both front-of-house and back-of-house restaurant teams Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Ability to work a flexible management schedule based on restaurant needs Preferred Experience The following experience is strongly preferred: Mexican QSR or Mexican fast-casual restaurant operations High-volume fast-casual or quick-service restaurants Drive-thru restaurant operations Alcohol-service operations Restaurant openings, turnarounds, or operational improvement Development of supervisors and assistant managers Multi-unit restaurant exposure Candidates responsible for supervising alcohol servers must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all required California Responsible Beverage Service certifications. Schedule This is a full-time, hands-on management position requiring a strong on-site presence and flexibility based on restaurant needs. The restaurant operates seven days per week, and the General Manager must be able to work a schedule appropriate for the needs of the business, including some evenings and weekends.
