Product Selection & Development Manager - Housewares & Home Lexi Brands LLC Torrance, CA Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $72,000 a year 19 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Qualifications Merchandising Retail buying Attention to detail Packaging Factory experience Full Job Description We are looking for a retail-minded Product Selection & Development Manager with a strong eye for products, color, trends, packaging and commercial appeal. This is not primarily an industrial design or engineering position. The main responsibility is to identify and develop products that will sell at major retailers, particularly TJX, Burlington, Ross and other off-price and mass-market retailers . You will work with our overseas factories and internal sales and creative teams to select products from existing factory capabilities and make the changes needed to make them commercially stronger for the U.S. market.
This may include changing:
Colors and color combinations Finishes and materials Patterns and graphics Handles, knobs and other aesthetic details Product assortments Set configurations Packaging Product presentation Features and specifications Retail price positioning You do not need to engineer products from scratch. The ability to create completely new product concepts is a plus, but strong product selection, taste and commercial judgment are more important for this position. What You Will Do Research retail trends, competitive products and emerging product categories. Regularly study products and trends at TJX, HomeGoods, Marshalls, Burlington, Ross and other major retailers. Identify products from factory catalogs, trade shows and supplier presentations that have strong potential for the U.S. market. Select products based on retail trends, price points, aesthetics and commercial potential. Develop color palettes, finishes, materials and product combinations. Modify existing factory products to create stronger and more differentiated retail offerings. Build coordinated product collections and assortments. Work directly with overseas factories on samples, colors, finishes, materials, packaging and product changes. Review samples and provide clear feedback and corrections to factories. Work closely with Sales to understand what buyers and retailers are looking for. Help prepare product presentations and assortments for buyer meetings. Work with Creative on packaging, photography and product presentation. Attend domestic and international trade shows and supplier meetings. Travel internationally when required, including China and other sourcing markets. Follow products from initial selection through sampling, packaging and production. The Person We Want You may come from product development, merchandising, product sourcing, buying, product styling or retail product development .
You should have:
A very strong eye for color, style and product aesthetics. Good knowledge of current home and housewares trends. Strong commercial judgment and an instinct for what consumers will buy. Experience selecting and developing products for retail. Experience working with factories or suppliers. Ability to look at an existing product and know how to make it more appealing. Understanding of retail price points and value. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple products and deadlines. Good communication skills. Ability to work closely with Sales, Creative, Purchasing and overseas factories. Preferred Background 3+ years of experience in product development, merchandising, buying, sourcing or product selection. Experience in housewares, cookware, kitchenware, home décor, tabletop, storage, giftware or related consumer products . Experience developing products for TJX, HomeGoods, Marshalls, Burlington, Ross or similar retailers is highly desirable. Experience working directly with overseas factories. Experience with color, materials, finishes, packaging or product styling. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is helpful but not required . Industrial design experience is welcome but not required . International sourcing or trade show experience is a plus. Mandarin is a plus but not required.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
