Bridgeport, CT Job Details Seasonal $16.94 - $21.18 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Computer skills Full Job Description This position supports the mission and work of the Y by supervising shelter residents, monitoring facility conditions, and maintaining accurate documentation of shelter activity. Provides calm, supportive assistance during crises and helps sustain a welcoming, respectful environment aligned with YMCA standards and program goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with residents, staff, and partners. Complete resident intakes; maintain daily logs, files, and waiting lists with accuracy and confidentiality. Support residents with basic life skills (e.g., housing search, budgeting) and provide appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation. Monitor facility conditions; report maintenance needs promptly; assist with meal prep and unit readiness as assigned. Maintain inventories of food, cleaning supplies, and household goods; ensure common areas are orderly and safe. Serve as a liaison with Program Director, Senior House Manager, Case Managers, and community partners; participate in meetings as scheduled. Follow YMCA policies, emergency procedures, and mandated reporting/abuse-prevention protocols. High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of related social services experience. Crisis intervention skills; sound judgment and problem-solving ability. Computer proficiency; accurate recordkeeping and documentation. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays; bilingual and CPR/First Aid preferred. The House Manager supervises shelter residents and monitors facilities to ensure safety, cleanliness, and daily maintenance needs are met. Documents shelter activity and provides calm, supportive assistance in crisis situations, fostering a welcoming, respectful environment for all.
