About the Position Christy's Restaurant is seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant General Manager to lead our team and oversee daily restaurant operations. The General Manager will work closely with the Managing Partner/Owner and Chef to ensure exceptional guest service, consistent food quality, efficient operations, strong financial performance, and a positive team environment. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional who leads by example, has excellent communication and organizational skills, and understands the importance of creating an exceptional dining experience for every guest. Key Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate all restaurant operations, including service, staffing, training, sales, costs, guest satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation. Ensure all food and beverages are prepared and served according to established recipes, portioning, cooking, presentation, and service standards. Create a warm, welcoming environment and ensure every guest receives attentive, friendly, and professional service. Lead, train, coach, and develop employees to achieve operational and service standards. Maintain a positive, professional, and productive workplace. Monitor sales, labor, food costs, and operating expenses while working toward company objectives. Manage cash handling, daily reconciliation, and required bank deposits. Bank deposits are required Mondays and Fridays. Work with the Managing Partner/Owner regarding hiring, employment, disciplinary, and termination decisions. Ensure adequate staffing levels and prepare schedules based on anticipated business volume and labor objectives. Address employee performance issues promptly, fairly, and consistently. Complete employee performance evaluations according to company policies. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and municipal health, safety, labor, and restaurant regulations. Maintain restaurant equipment, facilities, cleanliness, and sanitation standards through regular inspections and preventive maintenance. Complete all required reports, paperwork, schedules, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time. Support and execute restaurant marketing, advertising, promotional, and special-event activities. Step into operational positions when necessary to maintain excellent guest service and efficient restaurant operations.
Opening / Arrival
Responsibilities Check the POS system and ensure it is operating properly. Conduct a complete walk-through of the restaurant, including the dining room, exterior, restrooms, kitchen, and guest areas. Identify and communicate any maintenance, cleanliness, or operational issues requiring attention. Return outstanding phone calls and emails. Review reservations, floor plans, private parties, special events, and guest requests. Coordinate with the Chef regarding special menu requests and reservations. Enter daily/chef specials into the POS system and ensure music and other guest-experience systems are ready. Verify that all employees arrive on time, are properly dressed, and complete assigned side work. Ensure the team is fully prepared at least 30 minutes before opening. Conduct pre-shift meetings covering the floor plan, reservations, special requests, private parties, menu specials, 86'd items, operational concerns, and staff feedback. Responsibilities During Service Maintain a strong management presence at the entrance and, whenever possible, personally greet and welcome arriving guests. Monitor the dining room throughout service and interact with guests to ensure satisfaction. Proactively solicit guest feedback and immediately address concerns or service issues. Work closely with the Chef and kitchen team to maintain food quality, presentation, timing, and consistency. Regularly inspect restrooms and guest areas for cleanliness and proper presentation. Communicate with servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff throughout the shift to identify and resolve operational challenges. Ensure the restaurant maintains a professional, welcoming, and efficient atmosphere throughout the entire service. Closing Responsibilities Inspect and approve all employee closing side work before employees leave. Reconcile cash and banking with the cashier/bartender according to company procedures. Complete and submit the credit card batch. Prepare a detailed end-of-day report for the Managing Partner/Owner, Chef, Daytime Office Manager, and PR/Marketing team, including: Total covers Daily sales Staffing and labor issues Guest complaints and resolutions Guest comments and feedback Operational issues Notable events or incidents Any items requiring follow-up Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly turned off. Confirm that the restaurant is secure, the alarm is activated, and all doors are locked before leaving. Qualifications Previous experience as a Restaurant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, or senior hospitality manager . Strong leadership and team-management skills. Excellent guest-service and communication skills. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, staffing, scheduling, cash handling, and cost control. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and applicable labor regulations. Professional appearance and demeanor. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to lead by example and remain visible and engaged throughout service.
