JBSS is seeking a motivated and experienced Production Lead to support daily manufacturing operations and assist in leading production teams. This role serves as a key resource for production employees, machine operators, and supervisors by helping coordinate workflow, monitor production schedules, ensure quality standards, and support food safety and workplace safety initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys coaching and developing team members, and is committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. Key Responsibilities Assist supervisors with coordinating production personnel, monitoring workflow, and ensuring production schedules are met. Support task delegation and provide direction to team members throughout the shift. Train, coach, and assist new and existing employees on production processes and best practices. Assist machine operators with equipment operation, troubleshooting, and changeovers. Communicate with maintenance, quality, and other support departments to ensure uninterrupted production. Serve as a backup for machine operators, supervisors, and other production positions as needed. Provide production employees with necessary supplies, equipment, and machine parts to complete daily work. Partner with maintenance teams to address machine repairs and operational issues. Verify work order accuracy and assist in resolving production documentation discrepancies. Ensure compliance with quality procedures, food safety programs, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Assist with SQF, JST, and new hire training initiatives. Communicate production updates and status reports to leadership and other departments. Maintain production areas in an audit-ready condition and support internal and external audits. Promote and reinforce company safety, food safety, quality, and GMP programs. Follow and support HACCP, FSMA, SQF, allergen control, sanitation, food defense, food fraud prevention, and regulatory requirements. Identify, document, and report food safety or quality concerns immediately. Support a positive team environment by sharing knowledge and collaborating across departments. Participate in ongoing professional, technical, and leadership development. Adhere to all workplace safety policies and actively contribute to a strong safety culture. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or related environment required. Food manufacturing experience preferred. Skills & Competencies Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Strong leadership, coaching, and training abilities. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic computer proficiency. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with production, maintenance, quality, and other support teams. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
