Food and Beverage Manager Purpose of the
Position:
Administers, directs and controls the operation of the food and beverage multiple venues to resort standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Supervises, guides and trains all department associates in the food and beverage discipline.
  • Ensures that assistant managers in the food and beverage outlets are covering each shift to ensure proper supervision of each department.
  • Provides disciplinary action when needed.
  • Takes immediate action on problems that are encountered in the food and beverage outlets and handles guest complaints with timely follow up.
  • Monitors, directs and coordinates effective sanitation, cleanliness and organization effort in food and beverage outlets areas; to include maintenance and control of glassware, china, silver and linen use and supplies.
  • Establishes, directs and reviews liquor procedures to ensure adequate security and accountability; presentation and service performance.
  • Handles or assists with any guest related complaints, as well as coordinates the follow up on those complaints in a timely manner.
  • Knowledgeable about food and liquor federal, state and local laws and regulations and follows through with implementations of these laws and regulations.
  • Works with accounting on the budget and operates within established guidelines in regard to costs, expenses, sales and profit for food and beverage department.
  • Is responsible for food and beverage inventories and profits.
  • Ensures proper staffing procedures to enable the highest possible payroll productivity at the lowest possible costs in keeping with the standards of Riverside Hospitality operation.
  • Monitors restaurant review sites such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, Open Table, Urban Spoon... and responds in a timely manner.
  • Ensures guests receive friendly and courteous service at all times.
  • Interviews and hires new personnel in the F&B outlets.
  • Approves all food and beverage outlets reviews, hires, job transfers, corrective action, and terminations.
  • Ensures consistent appearance of F&B outlets staff members in accordance with grooming and uniform policies.
  • Promotes and ensures the upkeep of the department's training procedures and personnel development.
  • Works with the chef to develop and institute new food menus for the Restaurants, Room Service, and Lounge.
  • Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Ensures consistent communication between F&B outlets and other hotel departments.
Minimum qualifications:
  • Must have at least five years of current restaurant management experience with similar responsibilities.
  • Strong background in F&B preferred.
  • Must have an effective management style and ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations.
  • Must be able to effectively manage multi-outlet operations.
  • Must have strong communication, organizational, and training skills as well as the ability to motivate others.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and have a strong commitment to the guest.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and able to motivate and lead diverse groups of people.
  • Must be flexible in scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office products and other programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, hotel/motel management preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of food and liquor, federal, state and local laws and regulations and follows through with implementations of these laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs, with frequent walking, standing, sitting, smiling talking and listening skills.
