SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The General Manager is responsible for wearing the "owner's hat" in operating the store. The General Manager cares about the store sales, labor, product, safety and security as if it was their own. The General Manager will lead the front of house and back of house operations of the Cafe. The General Manager will spend significant time performing managerial duties, as well as some back of house cooking functions. Key responsibilities include hiring, managing, training and holding accountability to the restaurant team members. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring excellent guest experience, the safety of our guests, team members and property, and product quality. The position will lead and develop the manager to drive catering, online orders and increased sales. The General Manager must hit operational and sales goals for the Cafe, as well as operate within brand standards. The General Manager is able to safely work and navigate at a fast pace while muli-taking and successfully controlling a full shift with all operations with full compliance in the following areas, but not limited to, customer service, cleanliness, and preparedness of cafe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Management o Conducts daily walk through of property, both interior and exterior, at the beginning of shift to ensure outside is clean, lobby is clean, bathrooms are clean, kitchen area is cleaned, all surfaces have been cleaned and scrubbed.

o Manages and delegates daily functions of the café including prepping product, making food and smoothies, serving customers, and completing daily and weekly cleaning and deep cleaning duties. o Manages the brand experience, including hospitality, quality control, and speed of service. o Monitors sales growth and cost control of the store again the budgeted expectation and historical performance to maximize profitability. o When issues arise, respond and resolve issue even if outside hours of standard schedule. This includes resolving complaint submissions, issues with equipment, shortages on product, issues with employees, responding to emails, and any other issues that may arise. o Successful completion of the Cafe Basics, Certified Trainer, and Crew Leader Training Programs. Is ServSafe certified. o Monitors sales growth and cost control of the store again the budgeted expectation and historical performance to maximize profitability. o Complete bank deposits to the bank at least three times a week. Balances all deposits to ensure no shortages. o Counts the safe at least once per week. o Develops weekly schedule by Thursday morning each week. Submits schedule to the District Manager for review Thursday afternoon each week. Publishes schedule by Friday each week. o Performs any additional tasks necessary to run the store.

• Staff Supervision, Development and Training o Manages labor (17 - 18 % average) to ensure proper staffing levels to meet the budget and sales strategy.

Monitors Synergy throughout the day to ensure store is properly staffed throughout all open store hours. o Knowledgeable and proficient in each position within the café and holds team to the responsibilities and standards of the company. o Leads and coaches Assistant Managers, Shift Leads and staff during each shift to ensure brand standards are upheld. o Ensures staff using proper rations of food and all prep completed and to correct standards. o Ensures that if staffing shortage exists for a shift due to a no show or any other reason, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring the store is properly staffed and covered which may include going in to work the shift outside of their scheduled shifts. o Reviews applications, interviews, hires, and trains new Crew Members to ensure the café is staffed at the appropriate level. Ensures all staff has completed full Café Basics training. Ensures all Assistant General Managers are ServSafe certified.

• Communication o Communicates issues and resolution steps taken to the District Manager. o Leads the team by example of strong communication and listening skills. Treats all team with respect. o Communicates within GroupMe app to crew regarding updates, issues and staffing within the café.
• Sales o Promotes Tropical Smoothie Café outside the four walls of the store through app sales and catering sales. o Balances all deposits to ensure no shortages; if shortage or overage occurs, works to identify why and communicate any potential security issues to District Manager. o Champions marketing and promotional campaigns. Executes marketing and sales programs following guidelines.
• Product Control o Leads in accepting deliveries and ensuring all is properly accounted for and put away.

Submits for any refunds/credits for product issues to ensure store does not pay for product that is spoiled or not received. o Manages the inventory levels. Conducts weekly inventory of all products to ensure overbuying not done or shortages occur o Ensures staff using proper rations of food and all prep completed and to correct standards.

• Cleaning and Sanitation o Conducts daily walk through of the property at the beginning and throughout the shift to ensure outside is clean, lobby is clean, bathrooms are clean, kitchen area is cleaned, all surfaces have been cleaned and scrubbed. o Works to pass all health and Corporate audits by 90% or higher.
• Safety and Equipment o Ensures all safety and security policies are being followed as set by the brand and outlined in the employee handbook.

o Ensure equipment is operable to execute brand standards. Conducts equipment maintenance cleaning tasks as outlined on The Blend monthly. Diligently communicating any equipment issues to the District Manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

• 5 years of food service experience or hospitality degree
• Legally able to work within the State and Federal guidelines.
• ServSafe certification required.
• Experienced leader that has proven leadership skills to positively champion the store and all levels of the team.
• Strong in driving operations execution in all areas of the store.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Continuous standing and walking throughout the duration of each shift.
• Bending, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds to perform duties like stocking, refilling ice, or taking out trash.
• Constant face-to-face interactions with crew members and customers.
• Safely navigate in a fast-paced café environment.
• Ability to multi-task and remain positive in sometimes stressful working conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• General Managers can expect to have a 50-hour work week, dictated by the needs of the business. Minimum work week is 45 hours.
• Must ensure store is open during posted store hours. Store cannot open late or close early.
• Some early mornings, late evenings, weekend, and/or holiday hours and will have additional opening/closing responsibilities. All General Managers must work at least one Saturday and one Sunday shift per month.
• Leads all levels of crew by demonstrating Tropical Smoothie Cafes core values in all interactions.
• Complies with the Tropical Smoothie Cafe uniform and personal hygiene polices for each shift and ensures staff also complies with uniform standards.
• Comfortable with a high level of change.
