We are looking for someone who wants to be an integral part of the business and takes genuine pride in its success. The Bakery Manager will be the right hand to the owner, helping oversee the day-to-day operations of both the front and back of house while ensuring that our products, customer service, and team consistently meet The Upper Crust standard. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, natural leader, problem solver, and team player who can anticipate what needs to be done, jump in wherever needed, and lead with a positive, can-do attitude. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management
- Work closely with the owner and FOH/BOH leads to hire, train, schedule, supervise, and support bakery staff.
- Set clear expectations and hold team members, especially lead positions, accountable for meeting The Upper Crust standards.
- Lead by example with a positive, encouraging, and approachable management style.
- Address performance issues professionally and promptly.
- Ensure excellent communication among the owner, management, kitchen, and front-of-house teams.
- Ask questions and seek clarification when needed to ensure expectations and direction are clear. Bakery Production & Quality Control
- Develop a strong working knowledge of our pies, cookies, flavors, recipes, and production standards.
- Monitor all products before they reach the selling floor to ensure they meet The Upper Crust standards for quality, appearance, consistency, and presentation.
- Use good judgment when pulling or holding back products that do not meet standards.
- Work closely with the BOH lead to ensure dough and other production items remain at appropriate par levels.
- Assist with boxing, baking, dough production, dishes, and other bakery tasks as needed—especially during busy bake days.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. Inventory, Ordering & Holiday Planning
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering ingredients, packaging, and supplies.
- Help manage costs and minimize waste.
- Work with the owner to plan for holidays and special events, including ordering, boxing, packaging, staffing, and ingredient needs.
- Anticipate upcoming bakery needs and communicate them proactively to the owner. Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure the team consistently does the same.
- Answer phones, take orders, and communicate customer requests clearly to the kitchen lead and owner.
- Handle customer questions and concerns professionally and work toward positive resolutions.
- Ensure the bakery displays are continuously stocked, organized, and ready for customers—especially during busy periods. Sales, Marketing & Business Support
- Assist the owner with initiatives designed to increase sales and profitability.
- Help maintain attractive and well-stocked bakery displays.
- Assist with social media management and customer email communications.
- Support special events, holiday promotions, and other business initiatives. Cash & Compliance
- Maintain accurate cash drawers and follow established cash-handling procedures.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace regulations.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized bakery at all times. What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is:

- Tuesday-Saturday availability is required with potential for other days on a seasonal basis.
- Availability is required during the days leading up to and following major holidays, which are some of our busiest times of the year.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and ready to work at the start of every scheduled shift.
- Time-off requests should be communicated to the owner in advance. While we will always do our best to accommodate requests, not all requests can be guaranteed, particularly during peak seasons and holidays. Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in culinary arts, baking, pastry arts, hospitality, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous management experience in a bakery, restaurant, food service, retail, or similar environment is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is required.
