Job Description
Job Summary We're looking for a passionate, self-motivated, and experienced food professional to lead the day-to-day operation of our premium retail fish market and prepared-food kitchen. This is a unique opportunity for a chef, fishmonger, food-service professional, or hospitality/retail manager who enjoys working with food and people and wants a consistent daytime schedule—with no nights or holidays. Our market offers premium seafood, prepared foods, and take-home dishes. The Manager will play a key role in maintaining our success while helping us expand our hours, offerings, and customer experience. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a growing local business.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on leadership position overseeing the kitchen, retail market, employees, customers, inventory, purchasing, and daily operations. You will help determine weekly and seasonal offerings based on seafood availability, quality, seasonality, customer demand, and market trends.Duties Food & Kitchen:
Develop rotating prepared foods, take-home meals, sides, sauces, and other offerings; work hands-on in the kitchen; and maintain high standards for food quality, preparation, labeling, sanitation, and food safety.Seafood Market:
Help customers select seafood and provide knowledgeable cooking and preparation recommendations. Ensure product quality, freshness, and an exceptional customer experience.Purchasing & Inventory:
Order seafood, ingredients, packaging, and supplies; monitor inventory, usage, waste, and food costs; and plan purchasing to support weekly and seasonal offerings while minimizing spoilage.Team Leadership:
Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and motivate market and kitchen employees. Set expectations for service, quality, cleanliness, and productivity while leading by example.Daily Operations:
Oversee opening, closing, and daily operation of the market and kitchen. Maintain a clean, organized, food-safe environment and assist with POS, cash handling, staffing, and other operational needs. Experience An experienced chef, cook, fishmonger, food-service professional, or hospitality/retail manager . Knowledgeable about food preparation, food safety, inventory, and kitchen operations. Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently. Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. A strong communicator and team leader who enjoys working with customers and employees. Seafood knowledge is a strong plus , but we are also interested in exceptional culinary and hospitality professionals who are eager to learn and grow with the business.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods; lift and carry up to 50 lbs; work in cold, wet, and refrigerated environments; safely operate knives and kitchen equipment; and work around seafood and shellfish.
