Job Description

Red Barn Coffee Roasters is hiring a Cafe Manager for our Westborough, MA location. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes real ownership of a cafe — coaching a team well, holding a high bar for quality and cleanliness, and building strong day-to-day routines. You'll have real room to make your mark and shape how this cafe runs.
Pay:
$45,000
  • $55,000 a year, based on experience, plus a performance-based bonus tied to sales and operations.
Schedule:
  • Early morning availability
  • Weekends as needed

Responsibilities:
  • Run daily cafe operations: opening/closing, cash handling, ordering, and inventory
  • Hire, train, schedule, and coach baristas; hold the standard for drink quality, speed, and hospitality
  • Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and equipment maintenance standards
  • Build staff schedules that control labor costs while keeping the cafe fully staffed
  • Build a positive, accountable team culture with clear expectations and regular feedback
  • Ensure consistent recipes and drink specs across all shifts
  • Track sales, waste, and labor; flag opportunities to improve margins
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally
  • Support retail bag and merchandise sales in the cafe
  • Partner with ownership on menu updates and local promotions
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of management experience in food service, retail, or hospitality
  • Experience training and developing frontline staff
  • Comfortable with POS systems (we use Square), inventory tracking, and basic reporting
  • High standards for cleanliness, consistency, and customer experience
  • Lead-by-example style; comfortable on the floor during rushes
  • Strong communication skills and good judgment under pressure
  • ServSafe certification, or willingness to obtain one
  • Interest in specialty coffee is a plus, not required Red Barn Coffee Roasters is an equal opportunity employer.
