Job Description

Assistant Manager (Part-Time or Full-Time) — Block House Alma About Block House Block House is Mid-Michigan's eatertainment hub—restaurant + esports + live events—serving families, college crowds, and gamers with scratch food, a welcoming vibe, and big-energy nights (trivia, Smash, watch parties, TCG, and more). The Role We're hiring an Assistant Manager (open to PT or FT) to work alongside the General Manager in leading service, coach the team, and make busy nights feel effortless. You'll run shifts, help develop staff, and partner with the kitchen and events team to deliver "wow" service every time. What You'll Do Lead the floor: key-holder, open/close, table touches, guest recovery, pacing.
Coach people:
deliver quick coaching and maintain standards.
Run events:
weekly trivia, tournaments, and promos-guest experience.
Admin basics:
hiring/schedule assist, inventory spot checks, side-work systems, cash handling, and Toast POS reporting. Safety & compliance: maintain FOH checklists; uphold food safety and alcohol service rules.
Cross-team:
coordinate with
BOH:
food quality, special events. You'll Thrive Here If You… Have FOH leadership experience (restaurant/bar preferred). Communicate clearly under pressure and keep the tone positive. Are comfortable with Toast or similar POS (nice-to-have). Can work peak times (evenings/weekends). Have (or can obtain in 30-60 days) ServSafe Food Manager and alcohol server training.

hourly based on experience.
