Job Summary Pelister Park The Venue is seeking an experienced, hands-on Temporary Sous Chef to help lead our banquet kitchen during a busy event season. This is a full-time temporary position (approximately 3 months) for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume banquet environment and enjoys leading by example. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, calm under pressure, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality food. You will work directly with the Executive Chef to execute weddings, corporate events, and private functions while helping lead the kitchen team and maintain high culinary standards. Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations. Supervise and work alongside kitchen staff during prep and event execution. Prepare and execute high-volume banquet meals while maintaining consistency in quality, presentation, and portioning. Organize daily production schedules and prioritize prep to ensure events run smoothly. Help coordinate plating lines and service for large banquet events. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment. Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards are consistently followed. Assist ordering, receiving, and minimizing food waste. Train, coach, and support kitchen staff while promoting teamwork and accountability. Step into any station as needed to ensure successful event execution. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of culinary leadership experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Cook, or similar role. Banquet, catering, country club, hotel, or high-volume production experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to lead calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Thorough understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. Culinary degree is a plus but not required. The right candidate is dependable, organized, and willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed. Experience with banquet production and large-scale event execution is highly valued. Compensation & Schedule Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Full-time temporary position for approximately 3 months. Additional part-time hours may be available after the temporary assignment ends based on business needs.
