Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Childcare Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary and nutritional operations within a vibrant childcare environment. This role combines culinary expertise with leadership, ensuring that young children receive nutritious, balanced meals tailored to their developmental needs. As a key part of our team, you will oversee meal planning, food preparation, dietary compliance, and staff supervision, all while fostering a positive and healthy dining experience for children. Your dedication will directly impact the well-being and growth of the children in our care, making this an incredibly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about nutrition and early childhood development. Responsibilities Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations. Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom. Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly. Performs weekly food and supply inventory; submits list of needed items to director. Orders food and supply items from approved supplier, within budget set by director. Checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed. Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same. Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean. Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested. Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel are not available.
For example:
takes full responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the Teacher; assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise, if qualified to assist in classroom. Diaper changing/toileting assistance is prohibited until food preparation is complete for the day. Experience Proven management experience in a dietary or food service setting within assisted living or childcare environments. Familiarity with patient assessment techniques related to nutrition and health coaching strategies. Hands-on experience with dietary management tools such as budgeting software and inventory control systems. Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation processes related to nutritional needs or medical conditions requiring specialized feeding methods like tube feeding. Prior work in dietary departments that serve children or vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
