Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our premier golf facility. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management to ensure exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and financial sustainability. We're looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys leading a team, and is ready to help grow daily play while continuing to provide outstanding customer service in a golf course environment. PGA Members and active PGA Associates are encouraged to apply, but we'll also consider candidates with strong leadership, business, or customer service experience who are ready to take on this role. This is a full-time, salaried position (40 hours/week). Golf industry background is not required — training on golf-specific systems and merchandise will be provided.
Responsibilities Include:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Pro Shop, ensuring smooth, well-run service Hire, train, and supervise Pro Shop and cart staff; lead regular staff meetings and ensure ownership's direction is clearly communicated and followed Manage retail operations, including merchandise sales, inventory, and purchasing support (with vendor guidance from ownership) Coordinate and promote daily play, activities, and course services Deliver a high standard of hospitality and service to members and guests Support membership marketing efforts, including retention initiatives, promotion of daily play, and outside events Learn and manage the golf tee time scheduling system (ForeUP), ensuring staff are trained and comfortable using it; help implement new features as directed by ownership Assist with onsite cottage rentals, Food & Beverage, and other duties as neededIdeal Background:
Experience managing staff and daily operations in a restaurant, hospitality, retail, or office setting Strong organizational and communication skills Comfortable learning new software/scheduling systems Customer-service oriented, with the ability to handle a fast-paced, guest-facing environment No golf experience necessary — willingness to learn the game and industry basics is key Lead the management of the Pro Shop, including operations, facilities, staff, and guest services to ensure a seamless experience for visitors. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency, increase revenue streams through sales and events management, and elevate guest satisfaction levels. Oversee budget management, including financial planning, cash handling, cost control, and resource allocation to meet financial targets. Manage team recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and professional workforce. Coordinate events management such as tournaments, corporate outings, and special functions to maximize venue utilization and revenue opportunities. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and other relevant health standards. Cultivate excellent customer service by engaging with guests directly and ensuring team members deliver personalized hospitality experiences aligned with golf course standards. Implement operational procedures that promote safety protocols in line with health regulations. Drive sales initiatives through effective marketing strategies and guest engagement activities to boost revenue growth. Requirements Proven experience in management within a hospitality or resort environment; previous golf course or event venue experience is highly desirable. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and develop talent through effective team management and team development practices. Demonstrated expertise in operations management, including cash handling and business management. Excellent managerial communication skills for clear coordination across departments and stakeholder engagement. Experience in events management with a track record of successfully organizing tournaments or large-scale functions. Ability to handle customer service issues professionally while maintaining a positive guest experience at all times. Familiarity with sales strategies aimed at increasing revenue through guest services and event bookings. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in operational planning and execution.
