Job Description

OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of a premier golf facility. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management to ensure exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and financial sustainability.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys leading a team, and is ready to help grow daily play while continuing to provide outstanding customer service in a golf course environment.

PGA Members and active PGA Associates are encouraged to apply, but candidates with strong leadership, business, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience are also encouraged to apply. Golf industry experience is not required; training on golf-specific systems and merchandise will be provided.

This is a full-time, salaried position.

Key ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day operations of the Pro Shop, ensuring smooth and efficient service.

Lead the Pro Shop team, including hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance management.

Conduct regular staff meetings and ensure organizational priorities are clearly communicated and executed.

Manage retail operations, including merchandise sales, inventory, purchasing support, and vendor coordination.

Coordinate and promote daily play, activities, and course services.

Deliver a high standard of hospitality and customer service to members and guests.

Support membership marketing, retention initiatives, daily-play promotions, and outside events.

Learn and manage the golf tee-time scheduling system, ensuring staff are properly trained and comfortable using the platform.

Assist with onsite lodging/cottage rentals, Food & Beverage operations, and other facility needs as required.

Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, revenue generation, and guest satisfaction.

Oversee budgeting, financial planning, cash handling, cost control, and resource allocation.

Coordinate tournaments, corporate outings, special events, and other functions to maximize facility utilization and revenue.

Ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, and operational standards.

Identify opportunities to increase sales and revenue through marketing, events, guest engagement, and operational initiatives.

Maintain strong relationships with members, guests, employees, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Ideal BackgroundExperience managing staff and daily operations in a restaurant, hospitality, resort, retail, office, or customer-facing environment.

Strong leadership and team-development skills.

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

Experience with operations management, cash handling, budgeting, or business administration.

Comfortable learning and managing new software, scheduling, and point-of-sale systems.

Strong customer-service orientation with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.

Experience coordinating events, tournaments, corporate outings, or large-scale functions is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to resolve customer concerns professionally while maintaining a positive guest experience.

Familiarity with sales and marketing strategies designed to increase revenue and customer engagement.

Golf industry experience is preferred but not required.

Willingness to learn golf operations, industry practices, and golf-specific systems.

RequirementsProven management experience within a hospitality, resort, retail, restaurant, recreation, or similar environment.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees.

Demonstrated expertise in operations and business management.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across departments and with stakeholders.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
