SUMMARY:
Supervises associates in the deli department to ensure that the following duties are carried out including the preparing and serving of food in a grocery store, and in maintaining cleanliness of food service areas and equipment.

Must have at least 3 years of experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Moves merchandise as directed from store to room to selling area and sets up displays. Stocks and cleans shelves, displays, and other areas as directed. Stamps, marks, or tags prices on merchandise. Makes price changes and ensures product freshness. Cuts delicatessen meats and cheeses to desired thickness using slicing machine, knives, or other cutters. Weighs and wraps sliced foods. Orders merchandise and supplies to meet consumer demand. Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns associates to specific duties. Requisitions and inspects food, supplies, and equipment to maintain stock levels and ensure standards of quality are met. Ensures that all personnel fully comply with health department laws and standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 4 or more associates in the deli department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
