Job Description
Position Overview The General Manager / Innkeeper for this hotel is the on-site leader and primary ambassador of this boutique hotel in the NH lakes region. This role blends the financial and operational accountability of a traditional hotel General Manager with the hands-on, guest-facing hospitality of an innkeeper. The General Manager will drive a motivating, rewarding, and incredible hospitality experience to our customers, team members, the community, and ownership. The individual is responsible for delivering strong financial performance, leading a small team, and creating a distinctive, personalized guest experience that drives repeat business and reputation in a competitive leisure market. This position will be responsible for growing rooms sales, enhancing the already impressive F&B performance, as well as building a team of hospitality professionals who consistently deliver world class service. Key Responsibilities Financial & Business Performance Achieving and exceeding annual revenue Manage all aspects of the property P&L, including: Labor cost control Expense management GOP optimization Develop and execute pricing and revenue strategies based on seasonality, demand, and local events Monitor KPIs including ADR, occupancy, RevPAR, and guest acquisition costs Prepare monthly financial reports and forecasts for ownership Guest Experience & Hospitality Leadership Serve as the face of the property, actively engaging with guests daily Ensure a high-touch, personalized guest experience from booking through departure Handle VIP arrivals, guest recovery, and special requests directly Maintain and elevate the hotel's reputation across online review platforms Create unique, locally inspired experiences aligned with the NH Lakes Region market (outdoor, seasonal, destination-driven stays) Operations Management Oversee all day-to-day operations including: Front desk / reservations Housekeeping Maintenance Food & beverage (if applicable, e.g., breakfast program) Establish and maintain efficient SOPs tailored to a boutique environment Ensure property cleanliness, maintenance standards, and curb appeal are consistently high Actively step into operational roles as needed during peak periods or staffing gaps Team Leadership & Culture Recruit, train, and develop a small, high-performing team Lead by example with a hands-on, service-first approach Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture Create schedules and staffing models aligned with occupancy patterns Conduct performance management, coaching, and ongoing training Sales, Marketing & Community Engagement Drive direct bookings through strong guest relationships and repeat business Partner with local businesses and tourism organizations to generate referrals Support digital presence, including: Website optimization OTA management Social media voice and positioning Identify and execute revenue opportunities tied to: Seasonal demand (foliage, ski season, summer tourism) Local events and group demand Asset Management & Ownership Communication Act as the primary liaison with ownership Provide regular updates on performance, challenges, and opportunities Identify and recommend capital improvements and ROI-driven investments Protect and enhance the long-term value of the asset Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Revenue vs. budget Gross Operating Profit (GOP) Labor cost % RevPAR Index (competitive positioning) Guest satisfaction scores & online ratings Repeat guest ratio Qualifications Required 3-7+ years of hotel leadership experience (GM, AGM, or equivalent) Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L Proven ability to lead small teams in a hands-on environment Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills Ability to live on-site or within close proximity (preferred) Preferred Experience in boutique hotels, inns, or independent properties Familiarity with leisure/destination markets similar to the New England market Experience with revenue management systems and OTAs Background in food & beverage operations
