Join Our Team as a Prepared Foods Manager at Village Super Market! The Kitchen Manager directs and oversees kitchen operations, including purchasing, inventory cost control, sanitation, and quality assurance. The Kitchen Manager sets the daily production schedule for the kitchen staff, ensuring efficient and timely food preparation that meets the organization's high standards as well as food safety and sanitation laws. The Kitchen Manager troubleshoots and resolves operational issues and manages the department through their leads. They provide input on strategic decisions that affect their area of responsibility and may contribute to budget development.
Key Responsibilities of this role:
Place orders for ingredients and food supplies, ensuring all items are fresh and sourced from approved vendors. Monitor inventory levels to maintain an optimal balance between demand and supply. Schedule daily production plans for kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to production timelines. Supervise cooking processes to ensure compliance with company recipes, including monitoring proper internal cooking temperatures and cooling procedures. Coordinate the setup of scale labels for accurate product labeling and pricing. Enforce QA guidelines related to food quality, shelf life, and proper labeling (made on/sell by dates) in alignment with the company policies. Implement recipes to meet quality standards and customer preferences. Oversee the kitchen's profit & loss, including tracking sales, gross profit, shrinkage, and supply costs, ensuring all are within budget. Manage kitchen staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operation. Hiring and training new employees Communicate regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting the department. Experience and Skills Required 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a kitchen environment A proven track record of managing kitchen staff Experience with menu planning, inventory management, and cost control. Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse kitchen staff. Ability to train staff and create a cohesive team environment. Excellent cooking skills with the ability to implement and adapt recipes to meet company requirements. Creativity in menu planning to cater to a variety of tastes while adhering to dietary restrictions. Capable of managing inventory, ordering supplies, and scheduling staff while ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and within budget.
