Full-time Job Description Bricklane Curry House, an established British-Indian restaurant located in the heart of Jersey City, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Duty Manager / Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our management team. We are looking for a dependable hospitality professional who can independently manage restaurant shifts, lead the front-of-house team, maintain service standards, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is someone who leads by example, is comfortable working alongside the team, and takes ownership of the restaurant during their shift. Key Responsibilities Independently oversee daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts. Supervise, train, and coordinate servers, bartenders, bussers, and support staff. Ensure excellent guest service and promptly resolve complaints. Manage reservations, seating arrangements, and guest flow. Coordinate with the kitchen to ensure timely and efficient food service. Conduct pre-shift briefings and communicate daily specials, promotions, and operational priorities. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, and performance. Oversee opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and daily sales reconciliation. Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and restaurant presentation standards. Assist with inventory management, ordering, and cost control. Encourage upselling and maximize revenue while maintaining guest satisfaction. Support the General Manager and ownership in implementing operational improvements. Qualifications Previous supervisory or management experience in a full-service restaurant. Strong understanding of front-of-house operations and hospitality standards. Ability to independently manage busy restaurant shifts. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable handling POS systems, reservations, and cash reconciliation. Ability to manage staff effectively and remain composed under pressure. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Experience with Indian cuisine or Indian restaurants is preferred but not required.
