Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on, and customer-focused General Manager to lead the daily operations of our family-oriented diner. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who creates a welcoming environment for guests and staff, maintains high standards of service and cleanliness, and helps the diner operate efficiently and profitably. This role requires excellent communication, organization, and team management skills. Key Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day diner operations, including front and back of house Lead, train, schedule, and supervise staff members Maintain a positive, family-friendly atmosphere for guests and employees Ensure excellent customer service and resolve guest concerns professionally Monitor food quality, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards Work directly with Chef to create daily and weekend specials Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships Control labor and food costs while meeting sales goals Handle cash management, deposits, and basic financial reporting Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee performance management Ensure compliance with health department regulations and company policies Step in during busy periods to support staff wherever needed Coordinate with ownership on business goals, promotions, and operational improvements Qualifications Previous restaurant or diner management experience preferred Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment Reliable, organized, and team-oriented Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling, and inventory management preferred Food safety certification is a plus What We're Looking For Someone who leads by example A manager who values teamwork, respect, and community A positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to build relationships with regular customers and staff
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
