Assistant Manager Reports to: TH Operations Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Manager supports the Operations Manager in leading daily restaurant operations, developing team members, maintaining operational standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role helps drive sales, ensure efficient service, uphold Tim Hortons and TMG standards, and support a positive, high-performing team environment. The Assistant Manager is a floating position between three stores, Massena, and two locations in Akwesasne. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Qualified candidates may apply at www.thetmg.com/apply.
ORGANIZATIONAL MANDATES
Works collaboratively with the Operations Manager and, in their absence, ensures all aspects of daily operations are completed effectively. Supports the Operations Manager in overseeing Café & Bake Shop hours of operation and ensuring key performance measures are achieved. Leads by example by reinforcing customer service expectations and ensuring team members create a positive customer experience through professional, friendly, and attentive service. Ensures team members and operations consistently meet Tim Hortons and TMG standards, including expectations measured through Steritech Reports and Daily Inspection Logs, across all dayparts. Oversees the proper care, repair, and maintenance of equipment used in daily operations. Supports sales growth through daily customer engagement, operational execution, and approved external sales-building efforts. Monitors productivity standards established in the annual budget, including food, paper, and labor cost targets. Coaches, develops, and supports team members while holding them accountable for performance standards and operational expectations. Establishes daily team goals to improve order accuracy, speed of service, hospitality, suggestive selling, and operational performance. Maintains appropriate inventory levels based on sales trends, product yield, and business needs. Promotes a safe work environment by ensuring team members follow established safety guidelines and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency with the POS, Back Office System, and Accounting System used by Tim Hortons and TMG. Obtains ServSafe certification and ensures designated team members maintain required food safety certifications and follow food safety standards. Supports recruitment of customer-focused team members, maintains appropriate staffing levels based on projected sales, and ensures team members are properly oriented and trained. Postural and Physical Demand Requirements Stand continuously on hard surfaces, including tile, for prolonged periods during shifts. Walk frequently throughout the restaurant, including between workstations and storage areas. Lift boxes, supplies, and products weighing from under 5 lbs. up to 50 lbs. Lift milk crates weighing 5 to 30 lbs. from floor to counter, shoulder height, or refrigerator to counter height. Reach frequently above waist, chest, and shoulder level, as well as below waist level. Use both hands frequently to continuously for handling, gripping, and fine finger control. Work frequently in cold, below-freezing, and high-heat environments, including walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and ovens. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Have at least 12 months of previous food service supervisory experience. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Tim Hortons products and procedures. Maintain current certification in approved food safety training, such as Advanced Food Safety Test or ServSafe. Demonstrate reliability and availability to work a flexible schedule. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including motivation, delegation, conflict management, respect for others, and active listening. Follow written and verbal policies, procedures, and operational standards. Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Apply basic mathematical skills, including the ability to make accurate change. Demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Maintain an action- and results-oriented approach. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including remaining composed in a professional environment. Possess a valid driver's license, car insurance, and reliable transportation. Be at least 18 years of age. Work a schedule typically ranging from 40 to 45 hours per week. Respond to operational needs as required, including bank deposits, product shortages, and operational support needs. Obtain ServSafe certification as required. Model expected behavior by consistently following Tim Hortons and TMG policies, procedures, and standards.
