Market Manager - Kitty's Market About Us Kitty's Market is operated by Nice & Weird Group, a Hudson/Catskill-based hospitality management company that supports its businesses with leadership, finance, marketing, and building maintenance. We're dedicated to creating dynamic, community-driven spaces that bring people together through food, drink, and culture. Alongside Kitty's Market, Nice & Weird Group operates Mr. Cat Brasserie, The Caboose, The Wick Hotel and Grapefruit Wines. The Role We're seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Market Manager to lead Kitty's Market's day-to-day operations. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee a growing business, build and mentor a talented team, and bring creativity and strategy to our retail and hospitality experience. The Market Manager will partner closely with the Head of Operations to shape operations, drive sales, and ensure Kitty's Market delivers outstanding guest experiences. The ideal candidate is a leader with a passion for hospitality, an appreciation for quality food, beverage, and retail, strong financial acumen, and a knack for blending operational discipline with a welcoming, customer-focused environment. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and inspire the Market team - building a culture of positivity, accountability, and excellence. Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service, strong sales, and consistently high standards in product quality and guest experience. Manage ordering, vendor relationships, inventory, and payroll while keeping budgets and profitability in focus. Own financial performance, including P&L tracking, budgeting, and cost control. Recruit, train, and retain staff; oversee scheduling, onboarding, and professional development. Collaborate with the Head of Operations and marketing team on promotions, events, and digital presence to grow the Market's profile. Oversee daily cash handling, reconciliation, and bank deposits with proper financial controls. Maintain awareness of facility needs and licensing/permit renewals, and help prepare the team for annual DOH inspections. Maintain compliance with all state and local laws (including the New York State Liquor Authority and Columbia County Department of Health). What We're Looking For 3-5 years of management experience in hospitality, retail, or a related field (food service or specialty market experience strongly preferred). Strong leadership and people-management skills; ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team. Excellent organizational, financial, and operational skills. Comfortable balancing strategic planning with day-to-day problem-solving. Ability to work a 40-50 hour week, balancing administrative responsibilities with presence on the floor.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
