Job Description
BARBARO is a lively, upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of Millbrook, NY, and we're looking for a full-time General Manager to lead our team. We're looking for someone who knows that great hospitality starts with great leadership. Someone who can lead a room with confidence, build a strong team, keep the operation running smoothly, and make sure every guest leaves feeling genuinely taken care of. You should be organized without being rigid, polished without being stuffy, and able to keep your cool when things get busy. Most importantly, you should care deeply about people — both our guests and the team you lead. We're looking for a hands-on leader who wants to be part of the day-to-day operation, not just manage from the sidelines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead the day-to-day operations of BARBARO, ensuring a consistently high level of hospitality, service, and execution Lead, coach, and develop the FOH team while fostering a positive, accountable, and collaborative culture Set the tone for the dining room and create an environment where guests and staff feel welcomed, valued, and taken care of Work closely with the kitchen and BOH leadership to ensure seamless communication and service Manage staffing, scheduling, payroll, and labor to support a smooth and profitable operation Hire, train, onboard, and retain exceptional hospitality professionals Hold the team accountable to BARBARO's standards while leading with respect and clarity Handle guest feedback and service issues with confidence, professionalism, and good judgment Maintain strong knowledge of our food, wine, beverage, and hospitality programs Help drive sales through thoughtful hospitality, menu knowledge, and upselling Monitor and help manage labor, costs, inventory, and other key operational metrics Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and restaurant presentation Identify opportunities to improve systems, service, efficiency, and the overall guest experience Lead pre-shift meetings and help keep the team informed, motivated, and connected Stay calm, flexible, and solution-oriented when things inevitably get a little chaotic Be a visible, hands-on presence during service and jump in wherever the team needs support Represent BARBARO within the Millbrook and Hudson Valley communityWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
