Job Description

A bar manager oversees all daily operations of a bar, including staff management, inventory control, and customer service. Key responsibilities involve scheduling staff, managing budgets and finances, ensuring legal and safety compliance, and creating a positive atmosphere for both customers and employees. They are responsible for profitability, which includes tracking sales, managing costs, and often handling marketing and promotional events. Key responsibilities Hire, train, and schedule employees; manage staff performance; and resolve conflicts. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and handle complaints professionally. Manage bar inventory, including ordering stock from vendors, monitoring supply levels, and controlling waste. Oversee budgets, monitor costs, track sales, and handle cash flow and financial reporting. Ensure the bar is clean, organized, and compliant with all health, safety, and licensing regulations. Plan and execute special events and promotional strategies to increase sales and attract customers. Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills are essential. Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and basic business math is necessary. Able to meet deadlines and work with accountant Ability to remain calm under pressure and excellent customer service skills are crucial. Must be able to cover shifts for call ins or sick time. Weekends, holidays and evenings a must. Must be able to work well on their own, and with the board of directors and attend monthly meetings.
