Job Description

Position Summary The Food Service and Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, bar, pool service, and all country club events to ensure exceptional guest experience. This position is responsible for staffing, training, inventory management, beverage purchasing, labor management, accounting, and operational efficiency. The Food Service and Bar Manager works under the leadership of the Operating Board to maintain profitability while delivering outstanding hospitality and service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Training Recruit, onboard, and train all food and bar service associates. Recruit, onboard, and train all event staff. Ensure associates receive ongoing coaching and development to maintain high service standards. Promote a positive, professional, and guest-focused work environment. Ensure all associates comply with company policies, food safety standards, and responsible alcohol service requirements. Active participation in leadership efforts and succession planning, Staffing & Scheduling Prepare and publish staffing schedules for the restaurant, bar, pool service, and special events. Adjust staffing levels based on business demands, weather, events, and guest volume. Fill operational shifts as needed during staffing shortages or peak business periods. Develop and implement procedures for reducing staffing levels when business volume decreases, including appropriate delegation of decision-making when not on-site. Beverage Purchasing & Inventory Management Order all beer, seltzers, liquor, wine (if applicable), mixers, and non-alcoholic beverages. Maintain appropriate inventory levels based on historical usage, seasonal demand, and vendor minimum order requirements. Monitor inventory to minimize waste, spoilage, and stock shortages. Verify beverage costing and maintain pricing based on established company markup guidelines. Recommend additions, deletions, or changes to beverage offerings based on sales trends and guest preferences. Develop promotional specials utilizing overstocked or seasonal inventory when appropriate. Financial & Operational Management Review beverage costs, labor expenses, and sales performance on a regular basis. Maintain an agreed-upon labor-to-sales ratio established with the General Manager. Identify opportunities to improve profitability through effective scheduling, purchasing, pricing, and inventory control. Assist in preparing operational reports and recommendations for management. Support budgeting initiatives and cost-control efforts. Directly manages the accounting department. Guest Experience Ensure exceptional customer service is consistently delivered across all food and beverage operations. Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly. Maintain clean, organized, and safe service areas. Ensure safety for all associates and guests. Qualifications Experience Preferred minimum of two (2) years of experience as a bartender and/or server. Preferred minimum of two (2) years of experience purchasing beverages and managing inventory. Preferred minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in hospitality, food service, restaurant, or club operations. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Hospitality, restaurant management, or business coursework is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and team development skills. Knowledge of food and beverage operations and responsible alcohol service. Experience with inventory control and beverage purchasing. Understanding of labor scheduling and cost management. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high service standards. Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications, including scheduling and inventory software. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and climb as needed. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including pool service areas.
