Micheli's Osteria is a new polished-casual Italian restaurant and wine bar in Gahanna's Creekside district. We're bringing together regional Italian food, thoughtfully selected wines, handcrafted cocktails, genuine hospitality, and a dining room that feels energetic, welcoming, and memorable. Share in our success with a competitive base salary + Profit Sharing! We're looking for a Dining Room & Bar Manager who knows how to lead a team, run a smooth service, and make hospitality feel effortless. This is not a clipboard-in-the-corner management position. We want someone who enjoys being on the floor, developing people, solving problems, talking with guests, and helping create the personality of a new restaurant. If you love great food, Italian wine, well-made cocktails, and the organized chaos of a busy Saturday night, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do Lead daily dining room and bar operations with energy, confidence, and attention to detail Create a warm, polished, and genuinely hospitable experience for every guest Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and develop servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff Lead pre-shift meetings that prepare and motivate the team Maintain strong service standards while allowing employees to show personality Actively manage the floor, support the team, greet guests, and resolve concerns Oversee the execution and consistency of the cocktail, beer, and wine programs Help train employees on Italian wine, spirits, cocktails, menu knowledge, and suggestive selling Monitor labor costs, beverage costs, inventory, waste, and operating expenses Assist with ordering, inventory counts, receiving, and vendor relationships Maintain proper cash-handling, opening, closing, and end-of-day procedures Ensure compliance with Ohio liquor laws, food-safety requirements, and company policies Work closely with the kitchen and ownership to create a unified restaurant—not separate "front" and "back" teams Help build systems that improve speed, consistency, profitability, and guest satisfaction Turn first-time visitors into regulars You May Be a Great Fit If You Have at least 2-3 years of restaurant leadership experience, preferably in a polished-casual or full-service environment Have strong bar knowledge and a working understanding of wine, spirits, cocktails, and beverage costs Enjoy coaching people and holding them accountable without creating a negative workplace Remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during high-volume service Understand scheduling, labor management, inventory, and basic restaurant financial controls Communicate clearly and work well with both guests and employees Notice the small details—from lighting and music to glassware, pacing, and table maintenance Are comfortable using restaurant POS, scheduling, and inventory systems Are available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Are at least 21 years old Italian food and wine knowledge is strongly preferred, but curiosity, leadership, and a genuine desire to learn matter just as much. What We're Building Micheli's Osteria is being created as a neighborhood restaurant with personality—somewhere guests can celebrate a special occasion, share a bottle of wine, enjoy a great meal, or simply become a familiar face at the bar. We believe excellent hospitality starts with a strong workplace. Our goal is to build a team that works hard, communicates openly, supports one another, and still knows how to have fun. The right manager will have a meaningful voice in shaping our service culture, training systems, beverage program, and future growth. What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience Leadership opportunity with a new, locally owned restaurant An active role in developing the opening team and service culture Creative input into the bar and beverage program Opportunities for professional growth as the company grows Employee dining benefits A workplace built around hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and respect Schedule This is a full-time management position. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. The schedule will vary based on business needs, special events, and restaurant volume. How to Apply Please submit your résumé along with a short note telling us about yourself, your management style, and what excites you about joining Micheli's Osteria. Formal cover letters are optional. Personality is encouraged.
