Description Overview The Roost Pub in Wellsboro is looking for a dependable Front of House Manager to help lead our dining room, bar, and service team. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on delivering excellent daily guest service, developing and supporting our front-of-house team, and managing a successful alcoholic beverage program. This person will help keep service running smoothly while also overseeing key bar operations, including beer, wine, and liquor inventory, ordering support, product organization, waste control, menu consistency, and responsible alcohol service standards. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of a well-run bar program and can help maintain quality, accountability, and profitability. The ideal candidate has restaurant and bar experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm and confident during busy shifts. Responsibilities may include supervising servers and bartenders, training staff, helping with scheduling, handling guest concerns, opening and/or closing the restaurant, and working with ownership to improve front-of-house and bar operations. Duties Lead, support, and hold accountable front-of-house staff, including servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff.
Supervise daily dining room and bar service to ensure smooth, organized, and guest-focused operations.
Help train new employees on service standards, menu knowledge, responsible alcohol service, POS procedures, and guest interaction.
Oversee the alcoholic beverage program, including beer, wine, and liquor inventory, ordering support, product organization, stock rotation, and waste control.
Monitor bar consistency, including proper pours, recipe accuracy, product availability, cleanliness, and responsible service practices.
Review sales reports and identify trends in guest behavior, product performance, and service volume.
Monitor beverage sales, inventory usage, product movement, and waste to help improve profitability.
Use POS and back-office reports to help make informed decisions about staffing, ordering, pricing, and product mix.
Track alcohol inventory and assist with cost control, including margins, cost of goods sold, over-pouring, waste, and slow-moving products.
Communicate sales trends, inventory concerns, and improvement opportunities to ownership.
Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, staff development, and communication between ownership, management, and the front-of-house team.
Handle guest concerns professionally and work to resolve issues in a way that protects both the guest experience and the business.
Open and/or close the restaurant as needed, including cash handling, drawer counts, end-of-shift reports, and closing procedures.
Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, hospitality, and safety throughout the dining room, bar, host area, and service stations.
Work with ownership to improve service quality, control costs, reduce waste, and support the overall success of the restaurant. Skills Dependable, trustworthy, and willing to lead by example.
Previous restaurant, bar, or front-of-house leadership experience preferred.
Strong understanding of bar operations, including beer, wine, liquor, inventory control, ordering support, stock rotation, and waste reduction.
Ability to lead, train, coach, and hold front-of-house staff accountable in a professional and respectful way.
Excellent guest service skills with the ability to handle concerns calmly and confidently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with ownership, managers, servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff.
Ability to stay organized and make good decisions during busy service periods.
Basic understanding of scheduling, shift coverage, labor awareness, and daily restaurant operations.
Comfortable using a POS system, handling cash, counting drawers, and following opening and closing procedures.
Attention to cleanliness, organization, consistency, and service standards throughout the dining room and bar.
