Assistant Manager/Administrative Assistant, La Comida Downtown Site La Comida de California Overview La Comida de California is a nonprofit organization that has supported the nutritional and social needs of seniors in Palo Alto for 54 years. The mission of La Comida is to promote the health and well-being of older adults by providing nutritionally balanced, delicious, fresh, high-quality, low-cost meals; linking participants to other agencies serving seniors and their families by offering resources; and providing a setting that encourages socializing to address isolation and mental health issues. We serve healthy, delicious, freshly cooked lunches to local seniors each weekday at two locations in Palo Alto. La Comida, Assistant Program Manager La Comida is seeking a full-time Assistant Program Manager, starting immediately, who is passionate about serving the nutritional and social needs of seniors in our community. The APM will have supervisory and detailed administrative responsibilities. Job Description/Roles and Responsibilities La Comida de California is a senior nutrition communal lunch program that provides hot, nutritious meals to persons 60 years of age and older, every weekday. In addition to lunch, La Comida enriches the lives of seniors by providing a socially stimulating, cheerful environment, addressing issues of isolation and mental health issues. Qualifications
- Experience in office administration, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365
- Experience in non-profit administration with preference in the food industry, working with volunteers and/or working with seniors
- Leadership and community engagement skills
- Budget management skills
- Leadership abilities working with staff, senior members of the community and volunteers
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience working with and recruiting volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and be flexible

Detailed Work Schedule Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM-1:00PM:
In-person attendance is required every day. This consistent in-person morning schedule is an essential expectation of the position. After 1:30PM:
Following the initial onboarding period, the position transitions to a hybrid schedule.Remote Work:
After approximately 2-3 weeks of onboarding, afternoons are flexible, and you may generally continue your workday remotely 2-3 days per week, depending on organizational needs.In-Person Flexibility:
Certain projects, meetings, or organizational needs may require additional in-person time and face-to-face collaboration. Onboarding The first 2-3 weeks will focus on onboarding, training, and becoming familiar with the role and organization. During this period, the expectation is to be in person Monday-Friday, including the required 9:30 AM-1:00 PM morning schedule. Temporary-to-Permanent Opportunity The position is initially temporary. The expectation and hope is for the role to transition to a permanent position after November 30, assuming the position is a good fit for both the candidate and the organization. Key Expectation The Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM-1:00 PM in-person schedule is a consistent requirement, while the afternoon schedule offers flexibility through the hybrid work arrangement.- Bilingual in Chinese, Mandarin and/or Spanish a plus

- Availability to begin work asap and work as temp-to-hire for three months (until the end of November 2026) with the possibility of full-time hire.
