The Jacket Potato Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations. This role helps ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation, a clean and organized environment, and a consistently positive guest experience. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in upholding operational standards, supporting team performance, and ensuring menu items are prepared to the highest standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Support the Jacket Potato General Manager with recruiting, hiring and training new team members. Oversee daily workflow and site operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with company standards. Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and feedback to team members to support development and performance. Assist the Jacket Potato General Manager by providing input and support related to coaching and disciplinary actions, in accordance with company policy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the Jacket Potato General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations. Oversee food preparation and cooking activities to ensure all items meet recipe standards, proper temperatures, consistency, and presentation requirements. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations, and verify that team members consistently follow required procedures. Proper cash handling and adherence to restaurant financial processes. Handle guest inquiries, complaints, promptly and professionally and advise Jacket Potato General Manager. Assist in scheduling, payroll and labor cost management. Assist in managing budgets, food costs, labor costs, inventory, and supplies. Monitor and report on food costs, wastage, and other expenses related to the menu. Assist in developing and testing new recipes, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Maintain and manage related equipment, ensuring they are cleaned, serviced, and in good working conditions. Complete necessary health inspections and certifications as required by local regulations such as Food Handlers (required) and TABC (if applicable). Supports and facilitates organizational changes, continuous improvement and communication. Required Skills & Abilities:
Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to maintain a positive, engaging, and professional environment for guests and team members, even in high-pressure situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. General knowledge of basic computer operations & software. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills, with sound judgment and accountability for results. Acts with integrity and professionalism. Experience managing others preferred but not required General knowledge of cooking techniques, meats, and equipment General knowledge of knife handling and safety glove requirement guidelines and awareness of the location of the first aid kit. Familiarity with health and safety regulations. Irregular hours and weekends will be required according to the needs of the business.
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk/hear, push/pull, climb, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel/crawl, taste/smell, balance, twist/reach, carry, grasp with hands, squat, drive and use keyboard.
Lifting Requirements:
Lift/pull up to 50lbs daily.
Hearing Requirements:
Ability to hear alarms, communication equipment, verbal instructions, kitchen machinery and equipment.
Cognitive Requirements:
Basic reading, writing and math skills. Basic speech skills; must be able to speak, read, write & understand the English language, clerical tasks, memorization, analytical skills, function under stress & make independent decisions.
Vision Requirements:
General vision requirements in addition to close vision (20 feet), color vision and peripheral vision.
Noise Levels:
Normal ( Repetitive Motion(s): Regularly & repetitively use both feet and both hands.
Environmental Factors:
General working conditions include wet/humid/steam conditions not created by weather, slippery floors, hot grease, working with mechanical parts and machinery including machinery that contains moving parts, toxic/caustic chemicals, concentrated soaps & cleaning solutions, asbestos exposure, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, confined areas, pressurized equipment, Oxygen/Acetylene, Cylinders, CO2 Cylinders, electrical equipment, vibration, possible flying debris, flashing/strobing lighting.
