Position Summary The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in driving sales, execution, and operational excellence within the bakery department. This role ensures high-quality product presentation, maintains food safety standards, and delivers exceptional customer service while leading and supporting bakery team members. Key Responsibilities Department Operations & Execution Assist in overseeing daily bakery operations, including production, merchandising, and inventory control Ensure all bakery products meet company quality, freshness, and presentation standards Execute production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink Maintain proper rotation (FIFO) and dating of all products Support pricing accuracy and promotional execution Leadership & Team Support Supervise, train, and coach bakery clerks and decorators Provide direction and support during shifts to maintain productivity and service levels Assist with scheduling and labor management to meet business needs Promote a positive, team-focused work environment Customer Service Deliver excellent customer service by engaging with customers and addressing inquiries Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally Ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming department Food Safety & Compliance Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and audit standards Monitor cleanliness of equipment, cases, and production areas Inventory & Financial Performance Assist in inventory management, ordering, and receiving processes Help control shrink and waste through proper ordering and production planning Support achieving sales, margin, and labor targets Qualifications Previous experience in bakery operations or food retail preferred Leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong communication and customer service skills Knowledge of bakery production, food safety, and sanitation standards Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs Repetitive tasks such as decorating, slicing, and stocking Ability to work in refrigerated environments
