General Manager - Cypress, TXCompany Overview Russo's New York Pizzeria is a family-owned restaurant group with more than 30 years of experience serving authentic New York-style pizza and Italian cuisine. Our menu is built around fresh ingredients, traditional family recipes, and food prepared from scratch. We are committed to providing every guest with exceptional food, friendly service, and a welcoming dining experience. Position Summary We are seeking an energetic, experienced, and highly hands-on General Manager to lead the daily operations of our Cypress, Texas location. The General Manager will be responsible for the restaurant's overall performance, including staffing, training, guest satisfaction, food quality, labor management, inventory control, catering sales, local store marketing, and profitability. This is not a desk-management position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working alongside the team, assisting in the kitchen, preparing food, making pizzas, and leading the restaurant during busy service periods. Key Responsibilities Manage all front-of-house and back-of-house restaurant operations. Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, coach, and retain qualified team members. Maintain proper staffing levels for all shifts, including weekends and peak business periods. Lead the restaurant team by example and remain actively involved in daily operations. Assist with food preparation, pizza making, cooking, and production during rush periods. Ensure all food is prepared according to Russo's recipes, portion standards, and presentation requirements. Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety. Deliver exceptional guest service and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally. Manage employee schedules while maintaining appropriate labor-cost percentages. Monitor food costs, product usage, waste, portion control, and inventory levels. Complete weekly inventory counts and place accurate food, beverage, and supply orders. Review sales, labor, food cost, and profit-and-loss reports to improve restaurant profitability. Oversee cash handling, deposits, refunds, discounts, voids, and other financial controls. Operate and manage the Toast POS system for order processing, reporting, and cash-control procedures. Conduct employee meetings, training sessions, performance reviews, and corrective-action discussions. Enforce company policies, operating procedures, recipes, and service standards. Develop and execute local store marketing programs to increase restaurant traffic and sales. Build relationships with nearby businesses, schools, apartment communities, hotels, and organizations. Grow catering, outside delivery, online ordering, and community-event sales. Maintain the restaurant's equipment, appearance, organization, and overall readiness. Take ownership of the location's sales growth, guest satisfaction, employee performance, and profitability. Qualifications and Experience Minimum of five years of restaurant management experience preferred. Previous General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Kitchen Manager, or similar leadership experience. Experience in a pizzeria, Italian restaurant, casual dining, full-service, or fine-dining environment is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, food preparation, kitchen management, and food safety. Must be able to prepare food, work kitchen stations, and make pizzas during high-volume periods. Proven ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and motivate restaurant employees. Experience controlling labor costs, food costs, inventory, waste, and operating expenses. Working knowledge of restaurant budgets and profit-and-loss statements. Experience with Toast POS is highly preferred. Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle guest concerns and employee issues professionally. Local store marketing, catering, delivery, and sales-building experience is strongly preferred. Must be dependable, accountable, and willing to take full ownership of restaurant performance. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are a plus. Schedule and Availability This is a full-time, hands-on management position. Must be available to work a minimum of 55 hours per week . Must be available to work weekends, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday . Must be available for opening, closing, evening, holiday, and high-volume shifts as required. The schedule will be based on the operational needs of the restaurant. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and restaurant environment. Ability to lift and carry restaurant supplies and products as needed. Ability to work around ovens, cooking equipment, heat, and refrigerated storage areas.
