Plan and implement programs that meet regulatory and nutritional requirements for students, promote development of sound nutritional practices, and maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

Skills:

Knowledge of menu planning, food purchasing, and preparation of foods in food service environment. Ability to manage budget and personnel Ability to coordinate Presbyterian Pan American School overall function Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Three years experience in food service environment

Major Responsibilities And Duties:

1. Directly supervise a staff of food service employees. Staffs, schedules, plans work assignments and holds department meetings 2. Establish menus and manage the preparation of food within an established production system following standardized recipes, preparation and service methods and food handling techniques to ensure acceptable standards and dietary allowances. 3.Attends relevant training classes and workshops. 4. Orders and/or purchases food and supplies according to established specifications, determined by menu, volume and student needs. Recommends purchase of small equipment. 5. Participates in developing and maintaining routine procedures for accurate checking and distribution of meals to promote and evaluate client satisfaction. 6. Maintains required department records, including NSLP and ASP agreements. 7. Directs preparation and serves planned meals to meet the needs of special populations and for special school-related activities. 8.Reports to the Food Service Director office any emergency repairs needed for the cafeteria. Send all non-emergency work through the maintenance department. 9. Maintains defended standards of sanitation, safety and health for personnel; food preparation, kitchen equipment and physical plant. 10. Takes physical inventory of food, equipment and supplies, as required. 11. Patriciates in budget development and implementation of a system of coast accounting. 12. Promotes a program of nutrition education, procures nutrition resource materials and serves as a resource person for nutrition education program. 13. Participates in a two-way communication system within the school as with the community newspaper. 14. Participates in establishing and/or amending departmental procedures that affect the manager's responsibilities. 15. Orients and instructs employees in regulations and procedures and participates in planning programs for staff development.

Equipment Used:

Large and small kitchen equipment to include electric slicer, food processor, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, sharp cutting tools, ovens dishwashers, and food utility carts.
