Position Purpose The Bakery Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Bakery Department, including sales, production, merchandising, inventory management, food safety, customer service, and associate development. This position ensures the department delivers high-quality bakery products while achieving sales, profitability, and operational goals. The Bakery Manager maintains department standards for freshness, presentation, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance while creating an exceptional shopping experience for customers. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Bakery Department. Ensure products are produced, displayed, and maintained according to company quality and freshness standards. Maintain attractive, fully stocked, and properly merchandised displays. Coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing waste. Monitor department conditions to ensure cleanliness, organization, and operational excellence. Execute seasonal merchandising plans, promotional programs, and special events. Production & Inventory Management Manage ordering, receiving, inventory control, and product replenishment activities. Ensure proper production planning to maximize sales and minimize shrink. Monitor inventory levels and adjust orders based on sales trends and business needs. Oversee product rotation and freshness standards using FIFO procedures. Verify pricing accuracy, signage, and promotional compliance. Control waste through proper forecasting, production practices, and inventory management. Sales & Financial Performance Achieve department sales, gross margin, and profitability goals. Analyze department reports and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and implement action plans to drive sales and improve financial performance. Manage labor expenses through effective scheduling and productivity planning. Monitor shrink and implement corrective actions to improve department results. Customer Service Promote and deliver exceptional customer service. Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and bakery-related inquiries. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Ensure associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service. Build customer loyalty through quality products and positive shopping experiences. Leadership & Associate Development Recruit, train, coach, and develop bakery associates. Provide ongoing performance feedback and professional development. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer focus. Conduct performance evaluations and manage associate performance expectations. Identify and develop future department leaders. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Monitor proper product handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures. Maintain compliance with company policies and operational standards. Conduct routine inspections and corrective actions as necessary. Ensure all department equipment is operated and maintained safely. Safety & Loss Prevention Maintain a safe working environment for associates and customers. Promote safe work practices and proper equipment usage. Identify and correct safety hazards promptly. Support loss prevention and shrink reduction programs. Ensure compliance with all workplace safety requirements.
