Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Muse Whiskey & Coffee is located in the historic Weyerhaeuser building on the Everett waterfront. We operate as a coffee shop in the morning, then transition to a speakeasy-inspired whiskey bar in the evening. We are looking to hire a Cafe Manager for our coffee services. The Cafe Manager will focus on innovative hospitality and creating the cafe experience to support operational excellence. This position reports to the General Manager and will leverage their strong hospitality and operational skills to oversee the daily administrative and operational tasks, including financial management and analysis, sanitation and safety. Tasks include , planning and pricing menus, assisting in the preparations of all foods and beverages to adhere to agreed prices/budgets and maintain applicable quality standards and records whilst maintaining delegated responsibility for ordering and obtaining supplies, quality control and management of Cafe staff, subject to the guidance of the General Manager.
Responsibilities:
Work opening shifts and handle all Cafe opening duties on MOD days. Have and maintain in depth coffee and coffee preparation knowledge. Take weekly inventory and place orders to distributors when needed. Contribute to training and development of the team. Quality control of all supplies, food/beverages and health and safety. Receive delivered cafe supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered and put away in their correct storage spaces. Write checks as needed. Assist the General Manager on quality control for all daily cleaning tasks. Assist all other Cafe staff with on floor duties, i.e. Taking orders from customers, Prepare food and beverages ordered, making sure dining rooms maintain their cleanliness. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain proper food handling procedures. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional manner. Prepare work schedules and assign employees to specific duties. Provide initial and ongoing training and coaching, communicating regularly with staff. Schedule, attend and participate in regular Café Managers meetings. Ensure the constantly moving demands of the café are being met through clear, effective communication with employees, customers, vendors and management. Follow all cash handling procedures and trains crew members accordingly. Address all equipment and building maintenance issues immediately and communicates with necessary parties to coordinate necessary repair. This includes point of sale and computers operating correctly. Monitor product quality at all times; reports product quality issues to Management immediately. Ensure the dining area, condiment bar, front and back counters, patio, restrooms, storage rooms, offices and all pathways and/or parking lots, leading to and from the café, are clean and organized. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1 year experience in a lead or management position. 1 year Artisan coffee experience. Be willing to do coffee preparation training by our upper management coffee trainer to ensure consistency of our quality coffee standards. Knowledge of or ability to learn P.O.S. system for cashiering duties. Have experience supervising employees during assigned shifts including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and evaluating wages; recognition and discipline; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Be an effective and considerate communicator up and down the ladder. Strong passion for great food and hospitality. Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment. Flexible Schedule, Availability to work weekends is a requirement. Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team, Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with staff and customers. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise.
