- Merchandising existing products and new products by using size, shape and color to compliment an area or item to help promote increased sales.
- Directing, coordinating, and participating in preparing, wrapping, serving, and packing Bakery items while upholding the production and presentation of fresh, quality bakery products ensuring food meets company specifications.
- Providing in-service training to all new personnel ensuring they learn exceptional guest service, special features and services offered by the Bakery, and the proper and safe operations (at minimum) of the following equipment: com-line, phone, scales, shrink wrapper, sheeter, divider/rounder, bread slicer, dishwasher, proof box, glazer, label machine, case lights and ovens.
- Identifying and supporting the development of associates who show promise or interest in increased responsibility.
- Finding a way to make our customers happy.
- Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, food handling safety, sanitation/housekeeping standards, and guest services.
- Participating actively in the Bakery Department's accident reduction plan including: maintaining hood/vents, cleaning floors, sanitizing, and recognizing shelf order, safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, health codes for bleach, case temperatures, gloves, bin scoops, sink regulations, and storing regulations.
- Arrives at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required training and meetings.
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products.
- Assists bakery manager in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items.
- Monitors and prevents spoilage and communicates waste to store managers and bakery manager.
- Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
- Assists with periodic inventory checks.
- Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.
- Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
- Supervises and delegates tasks to Bakery Team Members.
- Works with Department Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
- Assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
- Keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
- Opens and closes the department according to established procedures.
- Ensures all necessary breaks are given.
- Communicates team concerns to the store managers.
- Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution.
- Fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
- Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; responds promptly to customer needs and questions.
- Consistently communicates and models MFB vision and goals.
- Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with MFB cleanliness and safety standards.
- Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.
- Trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
- Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
- Orders product based on store needs, promotions and special events.
- Works with store management and marketing teams to ensure effective sales and marketing plans.
- Maintains Schedule and time sheets for all employees within the department. Ensuring to schedule accordingly for sales, holidays and based on projected sales in the absence of the department manager. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has supervisory responsibilities. This position's supervisory responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of associates in the Bakery Department by performing all duties personally, or through secondary personnel.
- Performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; Directing disciplinary actions to the department head.
- Possessing and displaying excellent leadership and communication skills in handling associate matters.
- Implementing and enforcing company policies.
- High School diploma or GED; or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills
- Reads, analyzes, and interprets general business documents. Writes reports and business correspondences. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with all guests, vendors, and associates, under all circumstances. Mathematical Skills
- Performs mathematical skills in order to manage a profitable Bakery operation including concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume. Reasoning Ability
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions in written or oral form.
