Household Manager and Cook (Part-Time)
Location:
Edgerton, WI — in-person, at our homeSchedule:
Approximately 20-25 hours per week, weekdays, daytime. Possibly more or less depending on exactly how we decide to work together. Some flexibility in exact days/hours; occasional seasonal or evening needs by mutual agreement.Pay:
$25-$40/hour depending on experience, paid legally via payroll (W-2) with taxes handled. Paid time off and paid holidays included.Start date:
As soon as possible About the role We're a busy family (two adults, one school-age child, four cats) and we're looking for an organized, self-directed Household Manager to keep our home running smoothly. This is not a cleaning job and not a nanny job, though it touches both. It's the person who makes sure the fridge is stocked, dinner is handled, the mail is dealt with, the contractors show up, and the house is in order without anyone having to think about it. The ideal person loves systems, notices what needs doing before being asked, is comfortable with a laptop and a grocery cart in equal measure, and takes pride in a home that simply works. What you'll do Kitchen & meals Plan and cook weekday family dinners Prep easy grab-and-go breakfasts , snacks, and pack school lunches Batch-prep work lunches for the adults once a week Keep the running grocery list, do the weekly shop and put everything away Keep the fridge and cupboards clean, rotated, and stocked Home upkeep Daily reset: dishes, entryways, living room and toy areas, countersLaundry:
wash, dry and iron as needed. Today the cleaner puts the laundry away. You will manage her, so we would look to you for advice on the most efficient way to divide up cleaning and laundry duties. Swap hand towels and bath mat a; keep linens and guest room ready Water indoor and outdoor plants as needed Take out garbage and recycling; break down cardboard; get bins to the curb on pickup day and back Seasonal swaps: pack away and bring out seasonal clothing, gear, and décor Tidy-up before the cleaner's scheduled visits Household admin Bring in and open mail; flag anything needing attention Pay paper bills and deposit checks Keep the family calendar current, including the school calendar, forms, and deadlines Order recurring supplies (cat food, litter, household staples) and unbox/put away Keep security cameras charged and basic home devices maintained Help track and order birthday and holiday gifts; assist with party planning Vendor & project coordination Own our household vendor budget: review what each provider does and charges, get competing bids when something seems high, consolidate or cancel services we don't need, and look for ways to get the same result for less. Be the single point of contact for our service providers: cleaner, lawn care, snow removal, pest control, pet care services, handyman, boat service, and seasonal contractors Schedule visits, be present for them as needed, confirm work is done, and route invoices for payment Keep a running "handyman list" and batch small repairs into visits Track seasonal tasks (winterizing, dock/lift cover, gutter cleaning) and make sure they happen on time Errands Donation drop-offs, returns, device repairs, car service appointments, and similar Organizing projects (ongoing, as time allows) Help set up and maintain systems in closets, cabinets, linen storage, garage, and kids' art/memory keeping Alternatively source and manage a one-time professional organizing project to set up easy to maintain systems What we're looking for 2+ years of experience as a household manager, personal/family assistant, executive assistant, or similar role where you ran things for other people Highly organized and proactive; you keep lists and close loops Comfortable cooking simple family meals Comfortable with email, shared calendars, and basic apps (e.g. grocery ordering, shared lists) Reliable car and valid driver's license Comfortable with cats Discreet and trustworthy; you'll have access to our home, mail, and some household accounts Able to lift 30 lbs (groceries, litter, boxes) Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; background and reference checks required Nice to have: experience with waterfront homes, basic gardening, comfort around children for occasional backup coverage (discussed and paid separately).
