General Manager Position Overview:
La Crosse Country Club is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Kitchen Manager to lead the culinary team at Mulligan's , our most popular dining facility. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to delivering exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests. The Kitchen Manager will oversee aspects of kitchen operations, including menu creation, food preparation, inventory management, and staff supervision, ensuring the highest quality standards are met at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development:
Work with the Executive Chef and team to create and update innovative and seasonal menus for Mulligan's, reflecting the Club's commitment to high-quality ingredients and diverse culinary offerings. Collaborate with management to ensure menus align with member preferences and Club standards.
Kitchen Operations:
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared to the highest quality standards. Ensure consistency in portioning, presentation, and taste across all dishes.
Staff Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. Conduct regular training and provide guidance to ensure efficient kitchen workflow and adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
Inventory & Ordering:
Assist in inventory management and ensure all food and kitchen supplies are adequately stocked. Oversee ordering processes, ensuring quality ingredients are procured in a timely manner while maintaining budgetary guidelines.
Quality Control:
Monitor food quality, ensuring that all dishes meet or exceed Club standards. Regularly inspect food preparation, handling, and storage practices to comply with health and safety regulations.
Member & Guest Satisfaction:
Strive to exceed member and guest expectations by consistently delivering exceptional dishes. Respond to member feedback and special requests to ensure their dining experience is memorable.
Cost Control:
Monitor food costs, waste, and labor to ensure the kitchen operates within budget. Implement strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs while maintaining high-quality food.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including maintaining cleanliness of kitchen areas and proper handling of food items. Collaboration with
Front-of-House:
Work closely with the front-of-house team to coordinate special events, banquets, and daily service. Ensure smooth communication between kitchen and dining room staff to enhance the overall dining experience.
Qualifications:
5+ years of culinary experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role in a high-volume, fine-dining, or club setting. Proven ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen equipment, and techniques, with an emphasis on quality, consistency, and presentation. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage kitchen staff and operations efficiently. Ability to create diverse, seasonal, and elevated menu offerings that appeal to a wide range of tastes. Strong understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and kitchen safety procedures. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff. Formal culinary education or relevant certifications are preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in the kitchen.
