The Packaging Machine Operator Lead will work in conjunction with all Supervisors to support the production efforts of the Goodyear Plant on their assigned shift including production, quality, packaging, training and ensuring the Plant environment meets food safety cleanliness objectives, and operates according to established safety standards. The position will be required to work on 2nd Shift, Monday thru Friday, 3:00PM - 11:00PM. Key Responsibilities Acts as a point of contact for matters regarding Safety. Monitors compliance with established Company Safety policies and procedures. Reports issues regarding Safety to the appropriate individual(s) immediately upon identification. Provides/oversees training of all new hires and/or associates transferring to new positions within the Plant; provides feedback to Supervisor on training progress and requests additional training resources if needed. Recommends Associate for Qualification when appropriate. Assists in coordinating assigned operations on shift to ensure standards are attained and resources are used in an efficient manner. Monitors operations regularly to ensure efficiency/productivity; keeps Supervisors advised of all matters affecting production; recommends methods and procedures designed to eliminate operational problems when appropriate. Alerts Supervisor to observed maintenance needs, especially those involving Associate Safety. Monitors plant/area housekeeping and quality standards and directs efforts to resolve unsatisfactory compliance to either. Assists Supervisors with transitioning to the next shift. Responsible to give breaks to all other operators. Must be familiar with baggers, labelers and palletizing equipment. Must be able to operate a forklift. Participates in Company-sponsored activities, committees and meetings such as safety and audits. Requirements 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience, preferably in food manufacturing. Knowledge of manufacturing and production positions in order to ensure appropriate training and meet back-up objectives. Must be self-motivated. Ability to respond to changes quickly and pay close attention to detail. Knowledge of safety, quality and housekeeping standards. Ability to train, coach and mentor. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. Significant experience in a deadline driven environment (i.e., production deadlines, shipping deadlines, customer response deadlines). Strong conflict resolution and planning/organizing skills.
