Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Director of Dining Services to lead all aspects of culinary and dining operations. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who understands that exceptional dining goes beyond the food - it is about creating an experience residents genuinely look forward to each day. The Dining Services Director will oversee staffing, scheduling, food preparation, menu execution, ordering, inventory, sanitation, food safety, and the overall quality of dining services. Key Responsibilities Lead, schedule, supervise, train, and develop Dining Services team members. Manage day-to-day dining operations, establish priorities, and ensure appropriate staffing coverage. Monitor employee timekeeping and ensure accurate payroll-related records are maintained. Oversee food ordering, inventory, preparation, production, and service. Ensure approved menus and recipes are followed consistently. Ensure meals are nutritious, appetizing, properly prepared, and presented attractively. Maintain high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, infection control, food safety, and proper chemical handling. Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are properly maintained, clean, safe, and organized. Create a positive dining experience through strong hospitality, resident interaction, and responsive service. Address resident feedback and identify opportunities to continuously improve the dining experience. Maintain compliance with applicable food-service regulations, policies, and operational standards. Perform additional duties as needed to support overall operations. Required Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of hands-on cooking and menu planning experience , preferably within senior living, hospitality, hotel, healthcare, or a similar dining environment. Proven leadership or management experience within culinary or dining operations. Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and equipment. Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, and kitchen safety standards. Must possess the applicable state Food Manager Certification or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and team-development skills. Ability to successfully complete required background screening. Must meet minimum age requirements applicable to the position. Must comply with the organization's Drug-Free Workplace policy. If driving responsibilities are assigned based on business needs, a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record may be required. Driving duties are incidental to the primary responsibilities of this position. Preferred Qualifications Technical or culinary school education. Current Food Manager Certification. Previous leadership experience within senior living dining services. Experience creating a hospitality-focused dining environment for older adults.
